It’s tricky, not diabolical. Lots of seam and some movement under the clouds this morning.
I’d classify it as tricky, but all pitches should be in the first two sessions of a test.
So we somewhat agree.. Its a good pitch. Top order bats should have been able to navigate it through til tea

Its such an easy whinge to have but I do wonder if T20 has ruined batsmen for test cricket.
To a degree I think it has.

But pitches have definitely gotten more bowler friendly. I feel like the early 00s inflated averages by 5-10.

Our liveliest pitch used to be the Gabba which was still a road compared to NZ, South Africa and England.

I used to live close enough to the Gabba that the weather would often be the same at that time of year.

Sometimes the humidity was so thick you could cut it with a knife. Often when it was like that on the first day of the Brisbane test the ball would have periods of unplayability.

But the rest of the time it (ie the pitches) seemed made for our batting side.

There goes another one.

Australian pitches have gotten more bowler friendly. England has gone the opposite way.

For a while there Australia had a top 7 where almost all averaged 50. They were a great team, but conditions were too batter friendly.
