What an embarrassment. Great that marnus got a wicket but is this not supposed to be what green is in the team for. Bouncing players out using his height? Marnus is also getting up to 136km.

I think there's definitely something to the argument T20 has changed the game, or at least batting psychology.

Like Green at Brisbane, they start bowling variations and he thinks he has to bat T20, stepping away etc. Same with Smith today, he gets some T20 rubbish and he thinks he has to hit for six.

Just drop it and take a single

In a way, Stuart Broad was right. The team in THIS Test is the worst Australia has put on the park in ages. It undoubtedly the worst to win an Ashes series.

Head - great
Weatherald - not up to it
Labuschagne - Woeful recent form
Smith - great but his best days well behind him
Khawaja - past it. Handed a farewell game
Carey - great
Green - potato with photos of someone
Webster - bigger potato but in better form
Neser - meh
Starc - great
Boland - fine

No spinner. What an ordinary team. Cummins - 1 Test, Lyon only effective in one, Hazlewood no Tests. That they'll win this series is an extraordinarily magnificent achievement.

Which is a huge indictment on the English and how they approached the series. Talent vs Talent they have the better side, but half of them are pea-hearted or made of glass. Weren’t ready to play at the start of the series, and when they were in games they Baz-balled themselves out of it.

Unless there’s a new wave of fast bowlers that we suddenly unearth, when the big three go we are in serious strife. They’ve been carrying the side for a while now. We also have the heaviest test schedule coming up with 22 tests to come through 2027, and this T-20 attitude won’t cut it.

We're about to find out about the batting; no excuse about the pitch to hide behind

Renshaw to replace Weatherald moving forward.

I’d really like to see Kurtis Patterson get an opportunity now that Khawaja has retired too.

Out of all the shield players, those two actually have the best techniques suited to test batting.

McSweeney was stiff. He didn't do a lot but got only three Tests against Bumrah bowling out of his skin.

In Perth everyone failed, in Adelaide he got through an awkward twilight pink ball session and was not out in a tiny chase and in Brisbane they were on and off all day in the first innings and threw his wicket away trying to set an impossible target in the second.

Sure he had limitations, but the biggest one could be that he's not even an opener.

I actually don’t mind him down the order, maybe even at 5. Think he is he better suited to the middle order rather than an opener. His shield form would probably support that too.

I like Kellaway too. Hopefully he’ll be a long term opener for us!

If there was a Sixth Test I'd open with Renshaw ahead of Weatherald, replace Khawaja with McSweeney at 5 and one of Webster or Green with a spinner - probably Murphy.

Even Peake long term.

The Patterson and Renshaw calls are good. Webster over green too for the moment.
