Indeed they are, and in fact should. My comment was in no way intended as a jab at the fine country or people of New Zealand, but was more an observation that it looks like they've just stuck a couple of sets of stumps into a section of the outfield.
If the Test is still going on days four and 5 I will offer a full and unreserved retraction.

nah the Basin is a pretty fair track. Moves a bit for both the first innings but normally flattens right out and it wont look anything like it does come late day 2
They have to put a fair bit of grass on it as the wind drys everything out pretty quickly there
