I reckon the answer to that is “because it’s great fun”. Duck has been really hitting the sauce over an extended period now and he’s eying up carrying it through the entire Sydney test - with NYE thrown in to link it all up. The great man is on record pace here. Let’s not ruin it…

I remember once seeing the % of lbw decisions going against Gavaskar and Tendulkar in India. It was extremely low compared to their overall percentages outside of India.

How could you know how an scg test match pitch deteriorates when its rained out most of the time?

When i lived in Aussie they did some analysis of the Pakistan Aussie series and looked at the 50/50 calls which Australia won something like 27 to 9.
Its just human nature though. You got Warne or McGrath yelling in your ear in front of 50,000 home town fans, well its no wonder they get more favourable results. Happens in most sports too. Neutral umps and technology has been the best thing for cricket

India has demanded a black out curtain be erected at the SCG to stop fans peeping in on their final training session on Thursday as the tourists launch operation shut out in Sydney.
Rohit Sharma’s side is under enormous pressure needing to win in Sydney to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and siege mentality is in full force.
India cancelled their scheduled training session on New Year’s Day and it’s understood they have insisted their pre-match hit-out must be a closed session away from the eyes of their adoring public.
Captain Sharma and veteran superstar Virat Kohli are out of form and must desperately find something in Sydney to salvage a series which started to slip from their grasp in Melbourne with Australia’s epic final day triumph.

Australia will welcome fans into their final training session at the SCG on Thursday, but security will then have to ensure members of the public are escorted off the precinct before India begins its session in the afternoon.
Last year, Pakistan welcomed in several hundred supporters to watch their training session at the SCG ahead of the Sydney Test, but India prefer to train under the cloak of secrecy.
In Perth to start the tour, the WACA was instructed to erect black curtains around the training facilities and builders on site were ordered not to take photos or videos or even watch training while on the job – such was India’s desperation for players to be able to train in peace.
Thousands of fans flooded into Adelaide Oval to watch an Indian training session before the second Test, before the team swiftly reacted by shutting down all future sessions from the public due to the supposed distraction it was causing for players.
It’s been a testy tour for India punctuated by run-ins with the Australian media at airports and press conferences.

I always thought the Aussie umpires were bias at times like most and like you said were intimated by the likes of McGrath and Warne. Taufel for one I thought was very bias and still is with his comments.
I have never been sure why some regard him as a great umpire.
I did read a book where teams used to always complain about the bias umpiring of Tony Crafter.

To be honest I cant believe India won the first test. They are a team now badly in decline with fading stars. Its time they brought more youth into their side which they have plenty of and start the rebuild something Australia also needs to do over the next 12 months or so as well so they don't end up with a mass exodus all at once,. Without Bumrah they wouldn't be competitive at all outside of India at the moment.

Thought I knew most rules in cricket following it for a long time but his first action was over the boundary line not on the boundary line so shouldnt it be a 6. The ball had already crossed the boundary on the full. The other catches which you see a lot of these days is where the players first action is inside the rope, then the player goes over the boundary rope but keeps the ball in the field before tossing it up without his feet touching the ground outside the boundary rope

it's all about touch points.

if he'd touched the ground outside the boundary rope while touching the ball, that's 6

if he'd re-taken the catch before touching back down inside the rope, that's 6.

he'd done neither, one handed on the way down from his initial jump like a freak, so it's out.
