What happened to Riley Meredith ? he looked a cracker a few years ago.
Only seen him play Big bash recently. Does he play shield cricket anymore ?
Injured from memory.

Quick and decent outtie, in the mix after retirements to incumbents in next 18 months.

Can someone get a message to the Aussies that you rarely get caught hitting the ball along the ground? Only chasing 167 and these idiots have to play every ball in the air ffs. Maxwell in now. Will last a couple of overs or win the game. Let's hope it's the latter.

one bowler who really impresses me and shouldnt be underestimated is Tongue. Keep an eye on this bloke. He can be a bit wayward at times but he has some real quick pace and bowls some real jaffers. He hits the stumps a lot , takes wickets and caused Smith a few problems in the last ashes with some brilliant deliveries that dismissed him..
Would you say that Tongue licked Smith on a semi regular basis last time

Vics 7-340 at stumps on Day-1 against Australia... Probably would have been 4-400 had Starc not been playing!

Handscomb with a ton, although he was dropped on 0 by Jack Edwards... I wonder if Smith noticed or will just ignore it if Webster's runs dry up.

Kellaway & Harper with 50s, while O'Neill made another 46.

Unsure why Mitch Perry isn't playing.

Boland knocks Konstas over again...

Get him in the team!!!!

How most Aussies understood that: Get Boland in the team. He's capable of bowling that over and over again this summer.

NSW AUSTRALIAN SELECTORS: Get Konstas in the team. He's not getting another ball like that this summer.

Had the benefit of winning the toss on what was probably a dead/lumpy wicket (still close enough to an October wicket on a footy ground), but this Vic side/dev pipeline looks like it has the makings of a pretty dominant team for years to come. Incredibly young, obviously guided by Handscomb, Boland, Harris, Rogers et al., but there's still some talent in the wings and coming through at prem level.

Fergus has the makings to get there but from all reports needs to put on 5-10kms (probably closer to 10) which would be strength based rather than height based clearly at this point. His consistent batting (!!!) and fielding efforts in a broad sense has enough baggy green about it to make enough sit up.

Kellaway not that far off being officially included in the bat off stakes either, consistency here his best chance given he's displaying a strong ability to make tough runs. Got a good working over against Starc/Hazelwood/Abbott and dug in. It was a good test and he responded well.

I agree; it might be unpatriotic heresy, but I think the Poms will win it
You might be alone. None of the Poms I know think they will. My guess is England win possibly two tests with breathtaking ludicrous batting performances, lose two with comedy ludicrous batting performances and lose another because their bowling is hideously fragile (physically and mentally) post Broad/Anderson and our batting actually fires. With these two teams it might take 2.5 days of rain to get a draw.
