This is exactly why they are unloading on their own team and it is coming from guys who are usually more circumspect like Agnew, Atherton, Finn, Prior, Cook and not just the more forthright and quotable Boycott, Vaughan, Nasser, Pietersen. As for the wider fanbase, cricket for most in England is a casual third or fourth sport (football and golf clear 1-2) so the average take is “we were told we were favourites because the Aussies are old and shaky, then they got injuries but we are 0-2 so fire everybody”.
