Steve Smith is one of the best Australian circketers ever. His talent, work rate and determination is second to none.

He's also a flog. If he wasn't Australian, we'd hate him. No matter his Sandpaper failings, but his mannerisms, his doing the umpiring for the umpires, his disrespect for fans (who pay his wages), and his unacceptance that anything got him out other than the pitch or his own failings sees him as a total w***er.

I'm still of the opinion that country rep players should have to play a minimum number of tournament games to be allowed to play in the bbl finals.
Too often they just come in for 1 or 2 games at the end and dominate resulting in big swings.

Smith and Starc are absolute cheat codes, should not have been playing. Same with Webster.

I clocked 114kph last night. Done two ACL reconstructions and haven't played since 2019. Bowled a handful of times since then. Happy enough but a bit of work to get back to my best.
That is awesome, serious effort for anyone.

Got the bowling yips about 16 years ago after being a handy right arm medium pacer (I once had a season where I bowled 19 overs, took 13 wickets at an average of 10), so I decided to switch bowling hands, pull the old front arm harder behind me and focus on running the fingers down the ball with the palm facing the desired bowl landing zone. Probably bowling 90km/h on an arm I have never bowled with. Quite happy about that.

That is an insane effort. Last time I attempted to even throw opposite handed my shoulder fell off in front of me, lol

Strained my left pec trying it 10 years ago. Took 10 years to overcome and strengthen everything.

I can still bowl both hands, bat right handed and throw left handed. Cricket is a weird sport like that.

That is some effort.

Is it your back or front leg (or both) during delivery stride?

If you don't mind me asking, how old are ya?

33 now!

Back foot x2. First ACL was mid delivery when turning through before planting the front leg. I used to be very side on and feel like my brain has rewired and now everything is very linear, which theoretically should actually help me bowl faster given I've always carried a lot of momentum through the run up.

Young buck, can't help you with your bowling (I was a keeper/bat lol). Good that you're still out there well not today if you are, but days between 17-28 degrees (Oct - November).

I once had to keep (& Bat 3) in 46 in Adelaide one day... so 40 should be a piece of piss haha

I stopped playing after the knee because cricket is not fun as solely a batsman. Nick off early and you get one hit a month!

I get it. Youngster!!

You're going well, 7-8 years left to win another flag!

... I was a keeper-bat so can't help ya!!! I was lazy as ****, had good hands and would be up the pegs as much as possible attempting to anchor the bats in their crease and bring LBW well into play facing all bowlers (except our U19 Aussie Opening bowler who was lightning) - who did get S Waugh out in a Shield game on the G so me standing back 25m to him and taking them over my head wasn't so cowardly haha

Nothing used to hurt my ego more than when I moved to higher levels and then the keeper used to stand up to the stumps...but it was deserved 😂

lol. You would have hated me!!

Darren Berry was a Student Teacher at my school, once we met, he used to rip me out of German or Science and smash balls at me for an hour. I was ok until we met, but after he took me under his wing and worked on my footwork - I was pretty good.
