We can at least be confident that they never went to clown college. That's where the AFL hire its CEOs.

YOU PEOPLE HAVE HELD ME BACK LONG ENOUGH!

So what exactly were you doing at the VBA?

And what exactly will you do on the NMFC board?

He's right.

What point are you trying to make?

The combustible cladding is a deep issue, with the main issue not being safety, actually.

It's the financial flow on effects of mortgage lenders and insurance companies with the product present on their underwritten assets. At the moment the end user is liable under law and it's rendering some apartments worthless and a whole range of default issues for mortgagee's etc.

The product remained legal up until recently and PE core panel is still legal in a multitude of countries.

So what are you exactly trying to get at when you are asking him if he oversaw the "combustible cladding" issue, that didn't exist when he was there during his 19 years?

It's akin to asking the former Police Commissioner from the 90's if he oversaw rampant 40+kph speeding around schools.

Yeah, safety is not the main issue.

Reality is he's running on governance and he was in the C-Suite of an organisation that's having a bipartisan taskforce headed by two former Premiers look into its activities - at the time he was a senior C-suite exec.

Sorry but that's not screaming out QUALITY CANDIDATE to me.

Naaaaaaaaaaaaah.

Remember at the height of the shit when youse literally elected two nuffs off BomberBlitz on the #standbyhird ticket?
Yeah exactly.

You guys are desperately questioning those facing the music on here. Sure beats the "swallow it whole" approach we took.

The issue emerged after I left the VBA. I left in 2012. It came to notice in 2015 with the Lacrosse fire in Docklands.

It emerged after you left, but it was being done while you were there. What a pissweak answer.

Hey, where'd you go after that, what was your next gig.

I understand that Paul, I'm on your side on this one.

Having been personally involved with the VBA and the state government on the Lacrosse re-clad and LU.S supreme court decisions.

The issue is a deep and complex one and also an extremely problematic one....

Great, you quoted Glenville, do you know anything about it?

Do you know about Lacrosse, Neo 200, Marina, Lakani house, Garnock in Scotland etc also?

We also used to use asbestos, didn't wear seatbelts, put lead in paint and used cocaine and LSD for medical procedures.

Science advances, we discover updates in material sciences and chemistry and advance/adjust.

The VBA isn't responsible for Asbestosis....

Combustible cladding is called "the new asbestos" for a reason. It was legal for a long time until modern advances in testing procedures proved it highly dangerous.

So if an issue only EMERGES after you've left its all good?

Dunno if that's the attitude I want from a board member.

I know it is called Grenfell.

And yes, I know about Lacrosse, Neo2000 as well.

The point remains that VicGov has appointed a taskforce to investigate the agency the candidate was a senior executive at. for the period he was working there.

And he's running on governance.

But doesn't want to answer any questions and walks away from stuff.

What did you expect of him?

To foresee and predict the results of modern advances of science?

****ing idiot 21st century doctors treating cancer the way they did in 2020, they should of known how to treat it because we cured it in 2150.....

Genuinely extraordinary.

That sports science bloke we hired seemed like a good idea at the time!

Lol.

The taskforce isn't investigating the VBA.....

The VBA has been appointed the municipal building surveyors for Melbourne and Moreland councils (i.e they've been brought in to help fix the effected buildings and govern the standards on their re-clads).

The task force was raised as a way of figuring out how to re-clad a lot of these buildings, most of which are almost impossible to do so, given area's have been built out through construction sequencing.

To help identify which buildings are effected, financial implications etc.

To help redefine the laws to encapsulate the changes in the industry following testing updates and changes to building reg's.

Lol.

The taskforce isn't investigating the VBA.....

At one lunch held at Grossi Florentino in Bourke Street, Mr Arnel, the commission's recently departed chief financial officer, Paul Crapper, and four green building council members spent $1009, including $210 and $135 bottles of wine.

Yeah I'd rather not have someone who Nick ****ing McKenzie lined up and went bang on sitting on our board thank you very much.

Paul Crapper - you omitted your dealings with The Age investigative unit when discussing your media skills.

Yeah I'd rather not have someone who Nick ******* McKenzie lined up and went bang on sitting on our board thank you very much.

What's your point with this article?

It's regarding issuing of builders licenses (which has nothing to do with the combustible cladding issue), which was rectified with changes to legislation around 5 years ago.

As for misuse of public funding, well that's down to interpretation, I don't see anything out of the ordinary with the figures bandied about for senior exec's.

Shit journalism tbh...

Yeah mate, shit journalism from the bloke who has won more Walkleys than anyone else. And it was a quote from the report investigating the place where he worked.

You and I may be different, but I don't want this bloke thinking he can piss away thousands of dollars of member's money at Florentino myself.

Fact is a simple Google search shows up more red flags than a Red Army parade in Red Square.

I'm bloody worried about this nominations committee after this.

Cool, Caroline Wilson is a multiple Walkley winner as well, I guess we should just **** off to the Gold Coast because she said so?

The headline is scare mongering, the article is from 2012, right when legislation was put forth to change some issues with licensing and the article is relating to the issuing of DB-U's not CB-U's (the license required to construct buiildings of the scale the cladding taskforce has been ordered to investigate).....

The reality of the industry is, lunches and relationship building like described probably help save millions in public funding. Spats on construction sites between Govt Agencies, Developers, Builders, Architechts, Subcontractors only ever end up in huge costs blowouts, in an ideal world they wouldn't be required, but they are with some of the ego's at play in the industry...

So you're all for the boy's club approach now.

Righto, this makes sense.

Fact remains a prospective board member is named in an article by the most respected journo in the country as being out pissing it up at taxpayer's expense.

Let's elect him to the board and set off a Google Alert at The Age Investigative Unit and have those ****ers start sniffing round.

Brilliant idea. Strategic genius.

Did you actually read beyond the headline mate?
