Co location is still the preferred model, imo.

Somebody mentioned earlier about having a strategy to exit Tasmania. I would say to that "there isn't one & there won't be one".

And people wonder why we can't get a crowd at home, well........
It’s all a bit chicken and the egg. It’s one of the biggest benefits of the girls team in my opinion, attracting a new audience from our hometown.

Yeah isn’t Buckleys on record as saying we wouldn’t extend the number of Home Games played on the Map from 3? And isn’t he now on record as saying we wouldn’t extend the number of Home Games we play on the Map from 4? How can you trust him? How can you trust any of them? :stern look

Don’t know about that Luke. I can’t support a Team called the North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos. :stern look

I suspect we will only ditch the Tasmanian bit when we are moved on from that arrangement. I reckon if it was necessary to get the jump to get our AFLW license then it’s worth it.

I’ll say this about Hood. At least she was amongst the Rank and File in 2007 fighting off relocation. Arch was also amongst the Keep North South Movement. As for the other 2, who knows? :stern look

I stood for the NMFC Board back when the 2 Brayshaws first ran, specifically to ensure NORTH MELBOURNE would stay in Melbourne....always will always will be!

Hi Paul,

This sounds like an episode of survivor, but why should I vote for you instead of Sonja?

I think BB and Arch are shoe-ins so it comes down to you two.

Or like the democratic debates going in the US at the moment. I like the idea of them going head to head vying for a spot on the board.

Paul Crapper - can you identify one key skill/experience you posses that the board/club currently lacks that we clearly need?

Please try and be specific - your media example wasn't encouraging. You've got no frontline media experience I can see.

I think you could actually be a very good board member if you worked out what your actual message is.

At the moment it is "Vote for me and I'll represent members".

Do you think if Sonja misses out they will expand the board?

If they did she would still have to face the members at the next board election.

As a members advocate.

Which members?

Members aren't a unified body, there's significant division on lots of issues as you'd expect in any large group.

Suggest you review my candidate statement and my LinkedIn profile. Highly qualified Director, CFO and experienced in Planning, Building, business transformation, organisation development, risk management, marketing, comms & media and business development in Victoria and Australia across government, the private sector and NFPs and internationally with the World Green Building Council. My strong business and government connections across the above are just as diverse as my skills and experience.

Boards typically seek multi-disciplined and experienced Directors to provide greater functional representation on the Board not just industry representation eg. football in this case. A reason I get approached to be on numerous Boards but I am very selective.

So no, you can't identify any single skill or experience you have that we currently lack and there's a need for.

Seems like you're the Nathan Hrovat of candidates. Can't doubt the endeavour and you're capable in all areas but have no stand out skill that makes the team better.

Your tone is interesting too. You seem to think people should just recognise your ability and that's the end of it.

I’m more than comfortable that you have an opinion different to mine R. Please don’t vote for me if you are happy.

You listen to all stakeholders like you do at your employer.

But what if the stakeholders are diametrically opposed on an issue?

You're going to have to take positions that members are divided on.

That's why simply saying you'll be a member advocate doesn't wash.

There's a time and place for single issue candidates - anti- relocation being the North version.

But being a "member advocate" isn't enough on that front.

Spend a bit of time here and you'll see there's lots of issues where members are divided to various degrees.

If you get on you're going to be a member's advocate that's inevitably going to have to piss off large swathes of the membership.

I just don't see how that works.

Lol at R.

Interesting.

As you do at your employer, you listen and balance your response to address stakeholders concerns whilst also considering the best interests of the organisation. As an experienced Director overly 20 years, I’m experienced with dealing with stakeholders who can be at polar opposites.

Great discussing with you.

A "member's advocate" who cuts up nasty and tries petty intimidation tactics when asked questions about their candidacy.
