Mr Guy recently announced the abolition of the building commission, the Plumbing Industry Commission and the Architects Registration Board. They will be replaced next year by a new body called the Victorian Building Authority.

Several high-profile commission executives, including Mr Arnel, his deputy Peter Donald - who the Ombudsman found was paid almost $350,000 a year despite being a part-time consultant - and Mr Crapper have resigned this year.

He raised some high level expenditure at lunches that literally happens 2,000 times a week in the industry.

$12k for lunch between 3 of the largest bodies (one of them the biggest Union buster) in the state, between 2009-2013 is honestly unders and shouldn't be at all shocking for people in this level of business.

Your angle is that Paul didn't undertake his 'risk management' governance role adequately in foreseeing a safety issue that the whole industry wasn't sufficiently aware of until later, and once they did, changed standards that now create non-compliance issues all over the shop.

Not at all. Didn't force anyone. I tracked him down and suggested he might want to come on in. He can make his own decisions. Some folk on here would never vote for him anyway so probably had little to lose. He is a big boy. Some stuff on here gets too personal for my liking but thats always the risk on an anonymous forum. Good luck to him and all candidates. At least Paul fronted. I hope we have contested elections in the future.
