Seeing the article in the Herald Sun yesterday was the first I knew of any such mention. In fact I’m away on business and picked up its existence from you guys referencing it on this site.

From my reading of the article clearly there is interest in an independent members advocate running for the Board, whether that independent is successful or not.

This is not the answer Sonja's pals wanted to see.

Can you add any freemason type conspiracies involving the blood sacrifice of small children? Perhaps an old relationship with Harvey Weinstein? What is your position on climate change?

Can I just mention that I think JLG’s excellent grilling of Mr Crapper has been very beneficial for a lot of people on here, especially Paul Crapper himself.

The sequel to that - if Monsieur Crapper ever did make it onto the board and if he went on to sell the members up the river after all of his "members' advocate" campaigning, then you can be damn sure that JLG's grilling would feel like a Tender Touch tickle compared with what he would have coming to him.

Of course, this would never apply to the rest of the candidates, because they clearly believe they only have votes to lose if they allow themselves to come here and be scrutinized. Paul has shown more intestinal fortitude than the lot of them put together already, so he has to be seen as the number one candidate that would be an independent voice.

Could be good though, maybe worth a shot. If he ends up just contuing to SAY that he's homer stokes, freind of the little guy, and not actually doing that, it would be pretty bad.

As I see it, the saddest part to all this is that if the board has a vacancy in late 2020 and they decide to appoint Paul Crapper, then have him run for election as an incumbent at the 2021 AGM, he would probably lose 90% of the support he's gained this year. He would no longer be the outsider, the so-called independent. These people don't necessarily support Paul Crapper's policies or what he promises to do. They just like this vague independent concept because it allows them to think they are sticking it to the man (ie Ben Buckley). Which is particularly odd, seeing as they also support Ben Buckley.

I must say that this hatchet job actually reflects badly on Sonja as 1) she hasn't shown up to be scrutinized, and 2) I find it hard to believe that she is not lurking here, yet hasn't asked her hatchet crew (personal friends) to pull up and set an example of fair play.

Sure, I wouldn't mind to see how she responds to questions too, that would allow for some comparison. I think actually Archer would end up looking the worst from that exercise if some could momentarily lower the rose tinted glasses. But I also think similar assumptions would be levelled against her, making the whole thing pretty much pointless.

I don't dispute that Paul Crapper's decision to come here to be scrutinized shows a fair degree of courage, (and perhaps an equal serving of masochism.) However, I think we get a little carried away with how significant we are in the scheme of things. If Big Footy comprised an influential voting bloc, then we would have been able to push through constitutional amendments to prevent more than 3 games being sold interstate, and we would have been able to block the current board nomination process. Our numbers simply aren't that great. It's a moot point to question why the other three candidates haven't turned up here.

But getting back to the original point, if Paul Crapper makes it onto the board as the voice of the members, and if he subsequently went along with a plan to play 7 or 8 games in Tasmania, then obviously we would all be extremely disappointed in him. We would be disappointed in the whole board, but most disappointed in the bloke who promised to speak for us. And I have no doubt at all that you would be first in line to let him know about it, as you would have every right to do.

The logical conclusion is that P. Crapper IS actually the only independent candidate in the election. If you want a point of difference, vote for him. As for the other three, it doesn't matter if they don't get a single vote, as the board will appoint them anyway (as it has already done)!!!

Paul is the only actual choice that the members have in this election.

I don't know them personally, I don't know their supposed contact with Sonja. Assumptions on that doesn't fly for me.

If Sonja was to come here and someone scrutinized her to the same degree, in the same way, would that mean there is a similar conspiracy at large? A hatchet job must be happening? Or is it the simpler and more obvious answer the correct one.

You said it best, Paul's answers are word salad, if I recall when you rebuffed him, all he did was change one word from "engage" the members to "action". Then didn't say how.

I don't feel as strongly negative about Sonja as you do, so being supposedly independent (still didn't have to do the interview process for the board), and an unproven idea of being the members rep, isn't going to cut it.

I mean, FFS, on the one hand there's some content of word salad that reveals little or nothing, but on the other there's actually the publicly admitted statement of "Vote for me, because I am actually going to DO nothing"!

I see word salad, I see no substance on claims. I see a point of difference that breaks down to posting on an internet forum. By no means does that mean he should get my vote.
