Will be interesting to see if anyone bothers to run next year as I believe (unconfirmed) some may actually be finishing. If so let's watch the board invite their nominees onto the board a few months ahead of the AGM so they stand as incumbents.

This won't be a surprise, it is the MO of the way the club is run.

That would be the equivalent of running as a candidate for the Clive Palmer Party but insisting that you are an independent. Due to the past history of factions on the board at NMFC, anyone who seeks out and accepts Peter De Rauch's endorsement is by definition, not independent. To the contrary, you would be very dependent.

A year earlier, and an independent *might* have had some cut through. But Crapper's tilt came just as the incumbent board were showing that they are going in the right direction. He was probably on a hiding to nothing.

Not belittling anyone. I think someone claiming to be for the people and independent wouldn't have linked to PDR (making 150 phone calls on his behalf out of the goodness of his heart?) and wouldn't delete their BigFooty account.

Exactly. gokangas may think his monumental duplicity fools some people, and maybe it does, but jeez, I wonder who those folks are.

Crappers was equally duplicitous. Had the clear backing of PdR both now - and previously - yet ran a completely bullshit "I'm just a run of the mill member" line.
