Obviously, there'll be time to prove himself at the Senior Level of AFL Coaching and a lot to play out here going forward for his first season.

But Noble has one of the most impressive CV's out there today, and I think North has done a really thorough and calculated process to find the coach that will take this predominantly young group to our next flag, and Noble might just be the man to do it.

Really great decision. Can't wait for the official announcement.

North Melbourne has appointed Brisbane football operations boss David Noble as its new senior coach.

The Kangaroos board ratified the recommendation of the selection committee, including premiership coach Paul Roos and football director Glenn Archer, to appoint the 53-year-old to the role on Friday.

Noble won the race for the vacant position, beating Collingwood assistant Robert Harvey and newly-installed Essendon assistant Daniel Giansiracusa.

He is an experienced football figure, who has coached Glenelg in the SANFL and served as head of football at the Adelaide Crows and was an assistant for five seasons at the Western Bulldogs.

He played two games for Fitzroy in 1991 and was a teammate of Roos.

The Kangaroos' board confirmed the appointment after meeting on Friday with the 53-year-old winning the job after being interviewed this week along with other candidates, Collingwood assistant Robert Harvey and Essendon assistant Daniel Giansiracusa.

North's search panel consisted of Paul Roos, Rawlings, chief executive Ben Amarfio, board member and club great Glenn Archer, board member Sonja Hood and psychologist and leadership adviser Terry Coyne.

North had to appoint a coach well after the season after Rhyce Shaw stepped down as senior coach after only one full season in the position, due to personal reasons.

smh, once again the mighty North Melbourne football club is beholden to the soft sciences.
