Jaensch on a HF flank is an odd one - assume it's just pre game theatrics. He's finally playing good footy off a half back flank and they change his role? I think not.

Unless Sando's gone bananas...

It likely is pre-game tactics, but that said, whilst he's playing good offensive footy, the defensive side of his game has not been great. Playing the kind of role Chris Knights used to is probably the perfect position for his skill set.

How the **** does Phil Harper still have a job?

Trigg and Chapman can at least string a sentence together (even it it is bullshit).

Everything football related has turned to crap since he took over from Reid.

Probably know's where the AFC bodies are buried.

What a bunch of Drama Queens.

To make sense of selection you just have to follow the underlying basis for Sando's selection.

For example; Sando picks M Crouch, CEY, Grigg, Kerridge = Sando's looking to the future

So, Sando picks Martin, Shaw, Petrenko = Sando's trolling Vader (late changes, out - JJ, JPod, in - LJ, McKernan)

Petrenko - 72 games and counting. Will he be our next 100 game player?

Yes, and probably our first father/son selection.

Team named as:

B: Kyle Hartigan, Ben Rutten, Rory Laird
HB: Brent Reilly, Daniel Talia, Brodie Smith
C: David Mackay, Patrick Dangerfield, Rory Sloane
HF: Matthew Wright, Josh Jenkins, Matthew Jaensch
F: Eddie Betts, James Podsiadly, Jared Petrenko
R: Sam Jacobs, Richard Douglas, Matt Crouch
I/C: Cam Ellis-Yolmen, Mitch Grigg, Sam Shaw, Luke Brown, Scott Thompson, Sam Kerridge, Brodie Martin

Injury Report from AFC website:

Scott Thompson Corked Thigh Test
Mitch Grigg Adductor Test
Sam Kerridge Eye Test

Jason Porplyzia Corked Glute Test
Tom Lynch Shoulder Available

What I think is more interesting than trying to read between the lines on team selection before the final side is named and having a meltdown, is Tom Lynch. He was back running a week or two after doing his shoulder, so his fitness shouldn't be that far behind the rest of the group. I expected him to come straight back into the side when he was available. I can understand if the coaching staff wants him to find some touch first, although the same could be argued for 95% of the side. I really hope that if Lynch makes it through this week unscathed he is immediately brought back in.

I'd have preferred this week:

B: Kyle Hartigan, Ben Rutten, Rory Laird
HB: Brent Reilly, Daniel Talia, David Mackay
C: Brodie Smith, Patrick Dangerfield, Matthew Jaensch
HF: Matthew Wright, Josh Jenkins, Tom Lynch
F: Eddie Betts, James Podsiadly, Sam Kerridge
R: Sam Jacobs, Richard Douglas, Rory Sloane
I/C: Cam Ellis-Yolmen, Mitch Grigg, Scott Thompson, Luke Brown

Emergencies: Matt Crouch, Sam Shaw, Inanimate Carbon Rod from the 2nds. Lyons probably, he didn't do much on the weekend apparently but he should have been dropped in the first place.

Lynch has not played a game of football since a few rounds before the end of last year, didn't play any of the NAB, and a limited pre season because of foot surgery (or was it ankle?). Even though he is one of the best gut runners in the comp, nothing can prepare you like match fitness, and any player would need a run in the reserves (except Ablett). And yes, will be straight back in next week. Hopefully Otten plays SANFL next week, then Tex the week after!

You wanted Matt crouch as an emergency? He didn't play much game time last week, but if he played a full game would of got 30+. He stays until his brother is ready.

I hope Ellis-yolmen plays, as it means Crouch or him will play a full game. Has it been confirmed he is playing?

Someone landed on it after a marking contest I think.

Steven hasn't but Billings, Lee, Bruce, Saunders, Maister, Curren have.

Now why arent they being honest too :drunk:

And the same query still applies, it's not that difficult a concept for you and Wood Duck to grasp :drunk:. The first 3 you named are in for a potential promotion to the afl having not played last week. The last 3 all played in the afl team last week and are in for a possible demotion to the vfl. The argument isn't about honesty, in fact it's only aiof that seems to have ever mentioned that word or appear take this as a personal insult. If you had the required comprehension levels and read my posts, I'm asking why name him in the sanfl if the only reason he won't be playing afl is through injury. The discussion topic is his potential dropping to the 2's not the naming of extended benches. But keep up the funny faces, they make you look even more stupid:drunk::drunk::drunk:.

In any case, your example above will further emphasise my point. We'll see how many of the 6 mentioned in the vfl miss entirely through injury.

Why not?
Do you understand that at every club part of the preparation is knowing who your direct opponent will be, how they play, left or right foot etc etc. Why make it easy for your opponent? Every club in every league in the country does this sort of thing. Cant believe you've just discovered it.

So how does superfluously naming Grigg in the 2's achieve this. If they wanted to screw with st kildas preparation, they only needed to name him the extended afl team, which they have. So, back to a previous point, that remains unanswered, are we doing it to hamper the sanfl opponents preparation?

Youd hope so. They are playing for premiership point too aren't they?

Sands doesn't know what the **** he is doing.

Just when you think he couldn't be any more clueless, he steps up and takes thinks up another notch.

Useless.
You don't seem to be able to distinguish the difference between you not knowing what he is doing and him not knowing what he is doing. The fact that you disagree with him doesn't make him useless. Whilst I readily concede he makes mistakes I will gladly back his football IP ahead of yours.

Got ridden into the ground in a tackle v GWS in pre-season.

Which one is it fellas?

Once again Sando comes out with dribble in the press.

Today he's rabbiting on that our players have a "mentality issue" - this on top of the anxiety stuff .

Ammunition for the opposition just keeps flowing

We get on here and complain about players shitting their pants under pressure. We can see it plain as day. Sando tidies up the language in the media and we slam him for it. It's not like the opposition can't see it just like we can. What would be worse is if he came out and made up lies and denied there was a problem. We'd be all up in arms saying "He doesn't know what the **** he's talking about."

We are playing shit football. No matter what Sando says is not going to be received well. Damned if he does damned if he doesn't.
