No children allowed at Fremantle???

You're exactly right but why did his manager have to keep trotting out the family line when asked why WCE and not Freo? It made perfect sense to me as a Geelong supporter that he wanted to go to WA for family reason and specifically WCE for football reasons, but the message that came out a number of times was that "WCE suits their family better"

I have absolutely no hard feelings over anything that transpired except that moron manager of his continually using the 'it's about his family' line when discussing why he picked WCE
yeah the family thing really wore thin and its a shame he has got that clown as a manager. But not sure how he could have framed it - couldnt really say Freo are a sh!t show right now with no coach or ceo and a few years away from a premiership. anyway thank god its done and he we dont have to see him on the front page of the west every day. Good luck with the picks. Wells is a smart guy as he has shown over so many years so am sure you guys will get some great talent. If you ever want to send young Jordan Clark back am sure we can rustle up some more picks!

West Coast got the player but I can't help wondering why I keep hearing this garbage about the reason Kelly was only willing to play for the Eagles because it was a better fit for his family??

Then his wife has talk of her tears of joy at hearing he got traded to the Eagles because Fremantle would not have been a good fit for her and the children..

Why doesn't Freo call out their crap as they are making out like Fremantle is not a family friendly environment... So is there something we don't know? Are players at Freo not allowed to bring their partners and kids into the inner sanctum of the club??

West Coast going on past instances would seem like worst of the 2 in terms of a family club..

Such a load of crap by Kelly must being a selfish player who should have allowed Geelong the ability to find the best offer from the 2 Perth clubs and its obvious that would have been Freo... So Tim and his wife had to make out like going to Freo would be horrible experience for the family..

I think it stinks that Cats gave him a start and this is the thanks they get.

What an utterly useless rant.

So WC are still tarred with the 15 years ago brush because Willie likes pot ?
I seem to recall a current gun full forward who "wanted" to return to his home state and "wanting" to go to the Tigers in 2019 and getting what he wanted.

He grew up supporting West Coast and wanted to play for them, all kids that love footy dream of playing fo the club they grew up supporting - Tick
His and his partners family network is in WA - Tick
Geelong was not working for his family needs - Tick (My daughter is high on the Autism spectrum and I cannot stress enough the importance of the family support network)
West Coast is widely known a family inclusive club with the players kids regularly in the locker room and at training - Tick
He was out of Contract - Tick
West Coast offered a bundle of picks for him - Tick
Geelong accepted those picks - Tick
Geelong got him for a mid 20s pick and got two first rounders and a second rounders, that's called a profit for the GFC - Tick
West Coast offered him a great long term contract - Tick

The only thing that stinks is your useless opinion

Cats got him for mid 20s pick, got two fantastic years out of him , then made a bundle out of the trade 2 first rounders and a second rounder

nah playing for west coast increases income through advertising contracts (dominated by west coast in a city of 2 million or from freo; fyfe and pav). Its kind of salary cap cheating when you think about it. The northern clubs sydney and co use this argument to bring back cola. Kelly will earn at least 150k from this.

Playing for west coast also guarantees income post football because of west coasts significant influence over the WAFC. WAFC owns fremantle the wafl and west coast i think. West coast are the cash cow who have 60 million in the bank. WAFC does not need the wafl or fremantle but it does need west coast.

Not sure if this a sneaky attempt to troll Freo thread but I'll bite.

What's Collingwood's issues that Lynch chose Richmond, Carlton's that Shiel chose Essendon, Burgoyne the Hawks and so on.
Fact is Kelly would have chosen West Coast even if there were 5 teams in WA.

Also in regards to Freo's "anti-family culture"
It came in handy last year as Hogan was never going to play with a bunch of boring old family nerds.

I for one demand to know exactly why Brad Hill wants to go to St Kilda and only St Kilda. And I want the real, honest-to-God truth, dammit! None of this "I wanted to go back to Melbourne and St Kilda were the best fit for me" crap, I want a statutory declaration on the front page of every major newspaper in the country with the real reason or by gum I'm going to make some very strongly worded posts!

I found it quite weird that he was so desperate to go home for family reasons but ONLY to Eagles.

I understand Eagles being a preference but would have thought if it was so crucial to get back for family than Free would at least be entertained but they may as well have been in Melbourne for as much of a look in as they got. Very strange from the outside.
The IQ in society is so low these days. Why is it so hard to understand he preferred one club over another? Didn’t Lynch choose Richmond over nine other Victorian clubs?
He didn’t want to play for Fremantle. Big deal. Lynch didn’t want to play for nine other Victorian clubs. Big deal.

I prefer to work for News Limited over any other media company. Big deal.

This is why people are annoyed about it. If he had of done what Tom Lynch did and just said he wants to play in his home state for a team which he believes he will win a flag with.. people would have been fine with it. But using the family and kids thing, as if Freo is some sort of Satanist Cult, is just ridiculous.

I suggest you watch the interview he gave. He was talking about his kids health. He didn’t say he chose West Coast over Fremantle because of his kids but he did say he was a lifelong West Coast supporter.

No he hasn't.

He hasn't said any of those things you mentioned. I haven't seen him say he grew up a West Coast supporter, or about their premiership window or the players, the coach.. none of it. All I've seen is the wife being elated about going there, and TK saying in interviews that he doesn't want to talk about the reasons for not going to Freo. He played for South Fremantle. Why didn't he play for the East Perth WAFL team if he loves West Coast so much?

It's all to do with money, success and possible to do with his wife's personal goals. He just won't say that. Saying it's all about the kids, is what puts people off. Freo would not treat his kids or family any differently to West Coast.
Watch the interview moron.

For someone having a go at my intellect you sure struggle with comprehension.

I said I understand having one club as a preference over another. But since he was desperate to go back to WA for family reasons then it’s weird that from the start he didn’t even give Freo a look in, if you were desperate to get a job in your home state for family then you’d think it wouldn’t make too much sense to shut out 1 of only 2 options you’ve got to make that happen.

So I was 100% right and it was an allusion to our player welfare program.

WC players/staff include a lot of young families, so they've invested extra resources in that department and have connections with specialist care, schools, education/medical experts etc.

Some real nuffs like OP need to walk back the outrage a little.

He literally says it in an interview.

You need to stop posting for a bit.

Players are too scared to say 'I'm going there because they're offering more money'.

Don't reckon that would be the case

You'd think based on the talent on the respective lists, Freo would be able to offer a better financial incentive then WC

I totally disagree. If you don’t like an organisation, you don’t like it, and therefore want nothing to do with it.

Playing sport is passion orientated and if you hate a club/team, then you are not going to entertain the thought of playing for them.

Over the years we have had many players come from both Freo Clubs, ie. East or South Fremantle and I'm sure Freo have had some players who come from either Claremont, Subi, East Perth etc. matters diddly squat where you come from. I have always lived and was educated in the Western suburbs but that didn't stop me from barracking for South Freo in the WAFL.

In any event it's well known Kelly has always been a West Coast Eagles supporter and obviously wanted to play for the team he grew up barracking for!

what’s willie and his predilection with some performance enhancing drugs have to do with Tom lynch?

He does work for news limited so comprehension may be an issue

is that like tempering the cats with Bomber, stokes etc...?

List the etc's?

Ablett Snr the generation before. Stokes never got to any level like that generation of Eagles and seemed to have got back on track very quickly, Bomba seems to be in a bad place, who else?

I think it’s time Fremantle applied to the AFL for cost of living allowance. They have a hard time retaining players to the “go home factor” and players who do return back to Western Australia often pick West Coast instead despite Fremantle having a talented list.
