The Adelaide Crows are failures but not chokers, captain Mark Ricciuto says.
The Crows are still struggling to come to terms with the club's third AFL preliminary loss in five seasons.
But Ricciuto says the defeats won't lead to players having a proverbial monkey on their backs in finals.
"I don't think the players are real worried about that," Ricciuto said on Monday.
"Obviously we want to get to the grand final, but that is not playing on our mind.
"You want to be making the most of your opportunities and we probably haven't done that in the last couple of years.
"That is something we wanted to get better at this year and we failed."
Ricciuto said it would be unfair to label the Crows chokers following Saturday's 10-point loss to West Coast and previous preliminary final defeats last year and in 2002.
"I don't think so, if it happens again next year, maybe it will," he said of the chokers tag.

Well, its official then - losing two prelims in a row after finishing in the top two is NOT a choke, it is just a failure.

we can't actually take an opinion from a team who finished 14th?? come on thats just not right everyteam we own owns you losers lol "oh fremantle are impossible there on a streak"" yeh pity we ended there streak by 5 goals but if I remember rightly they gave you "and i know it has been uncommon this year lol" (sarcasm) an absolute bath by 12 goals, and thats rite I bet the lot of you are sitting there going well at least we beat the eagles who we couldn't manage to beat yeh try playing them when they have kerr, judd, embley, and all the otha players that were injured when you beat them that's like saying I can beat u at chess but only if you have no queen and king its a croc! the chewing gum on my shoe has more valid points to make about the crows and how they can improve then you do.

p.s the only thing you lot need to know is that no matter what players you have had, have or ever will have VB will amount to 1000x that peter burgoyne bump to VB= Coma for Burgoyne who by the way ranks on chris judd about as well as I do lol can't beleive stupid francou embarassed himself by getting on state radio and telling people burgoyne is as good as Judd lol wat a joke watch the brownlow them come talk to me lol

After the crap that Port took after their finals loses, it's hard to see why Adelaide aren't chokers if Port were. Or were neither?

Similarly, if the Eagles lose this weekend they have achieved what the Pies did - 2 Grand Finals appearances for no wins. We were all told the Pies choked so I guess that same tag would apply to the Eagles.

No. They performed very well most of the season. They reached a prelim for the second year in a row. They blew a good half time lead, infront of a huge home crowd, after an extra weeks rest....

I only have one positive remark to make about port adelaide and that is daniel pierce is a gun! i would take him and he deserves the rising star, only decent player u sad excuse for a football team has VB is still better but yeh he is good dice the rest of your team and there still may be hope for you.

Would you like me to spell it out in teal? Crows lose finals to superior teams that they can't beat during the Home and Away season, the Power lose finals to teams they thrashed a mere few weeks before the finals.
The Crows go into the finals with horrible form, losing 3/5 and win against a team on a 9 win streak. Port go into the finals with an 8 game winning streak and lose to an inferior team.
