Simply stating that no compo is how the wider community views white.
He had a good year, predominately as a sub.
Took him 8 years to show something.
Dangerfield is a jet, though he has one thing white doesn't. Afl talent. White was an ok player at best.

Fair call if it's based on performance. It should be based solely on contract size though, it's the only quantitative method of rating a player, esp. with regards to free agency.

The fact that we lost a guy who was quite important to us this year, who improved a great deal and was in the best 22 all year in the team that finished 5th for absolutely nothing...and then traded for a guy who didn't make the 9th teams best 22 for a second round in Hampson is shocking management.

7.5 seasons of pretty ordinary footy, no compo is about spot on. Start of this year most people were pencilling this in as his last season.

It is FA after all, nobody should get compo at all and I would hope its getting phased out.

Guys please don't get me wrong. I know Matt White hasn't turned into Ablett over night. But in a clear comparison between Thomas and Sylvia, based on past performance, age, injuries, salary we deserved something. Even Dal Santo although a star is coming to the end...why would you get a 2nd round for a guy whos way past his best. It just doesn't add up IMO

Disappointing not to get anything. Reason provided was due to Whites age. But if that is the case why did Compo get awarded for Chaplin, dal Santo and Sylvia all who are older than White. It is supposed to take into account the overall loss to the team and their contract at a new club. White was best 22 at the club before he left, and would be on similar coin at Port as what Chaplin is on. So why did Chaplin warrant compo and White not?

AFL is stupid though. Compo picks are stupid. Buddy is worth more than 20, Thomas and Sylvia less than what their clubs received.

He finished well down in the Jack Dyer Medal (20th?), was drafted for bugger all and is probably on a modest base plus decent match payments/ incentives
