Players who have played senior football but are not in the squad of 28:

Crawford, Barker, Brennan, Ball, Thurgood, Dawson

Possible "First"-gamers:

Birchall, Gilham

And it looks like Richmond is going in at full strength too. Should be a good game given our last meeting.

This squad of players at least answers one of our questions, that Dawson won't be given first shot at securing the full back position.

Unless he is carrying an injury that i don't know about?

what now ball can't even crack a pre season match, why keep him then?
He had a year to run on his contract. It's best to have him as a backup or a leader at Box Hill than to pay him out and get year of nothing.

The tradgedy that is John Barker. :(

Still it's hardly surprising now, being blunt, wouldn't be at all shocked if he retires sometime early in the season.

That aside, it is the psc so there's always going to be a few senior players given a little bit of leeway in the lead-up games.

It's still a fairly experienced named line-up (so's the tiggers for that matter) though. Not discounting our chances but reckon it's going to be a close run thing just the same.

I think it's a 50/50 game. A group of hungry youngsters vying for spots in the team can often produce better-than-expected results.

On a completely unrelated matter, I know it wouldn't get you in free but does your membership card get you any discount for tomorrow's game?

Hey one-eyed hawk, there is no discount on tomorrows game if you use your membership. By the way, does your mother work at Coles Myer in Mulgrave?

No AA ruckman.
No Brownlow medallist.
No Campbell Brown.
No CHF.

No worries.
Put it in some context - Richmond were without Brown (AA), Coughlan (club B&F), Gaspar (AA CHB) and Chaffey (a consistently better player than Brown). In my view 4 of their best 10 players, so their outs were just as significant as ours.

I think we shouldn't get too smug about what was a pretty average standard game - well the second half was a real dour slog.

The only side which would take positives out of an 11 point victory was going to be us. However, I must admit, I did leave the ground with an optimistic view of things. Next week's match with Adelaide may be a better yardstick for how we're progressing. If we can get within 4 goals, or snatch a win, then there's more reason to get excited.

Think both teams we missing their share of players, hard to judge who was worse off. N. Brown probably the biggest difference.

Scribe, Chaffey is on the verge of being delisted IMO, don't think I'd consider having in front of our own Cambell Brown.

There were definately positives to come out of the game.

It was a positive that we won, not because its means we are final's contenders because we won a Pre-season game, but we lost many close ones last year, we need to start learning to win the tight ones. That is a positive.

Other positives are certain players form and seeing some structures take place. Cambell's work in defence, Tails holding his own in the ruck without spider (big improvement from taylor IMO), Guerra, and Boyle for mine.

The chance of playing Roughead forward seems a positive to me as well. I like the fact we seemed to work through Willo, or use other options like Boyle to link it through half forward if his space was blocked, and go long to options in the square like Roughead when needed too. If Barks can get on the park (big if) it'll be ok down there potentially.

Good to get a win, creates excitement (not neccessarily justifiable) which will lead to more members and exposure etc. and the chance to get some cash.
