Meanwhile in the UK Fireman Sam is axed as a mascot for the fire brigade...because diversity.

Fireman Sam has been axed as a mascot for a fire brigade over fears he could put women off joining.
Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service said the children's TV character was outdated and did not reflect the message it wanted to achieve.
The decision follows complaints by staff and members of the public.
Chief fire officer Les Britzman said Fireman Sam would be replaced with fire extinguisher-shaped mascots called Freddy, Filbert and Penelope.
Mr Britzman said the service already struggled to recruit women firefighters and the character would no longer be used in its promotional material.
"There's been a lot of research that says that images that young people have about what careers they want to do are formed when they are about four or five.
"If you are promoting that image we might be stopping people wanting to apply for the fire service 20 years down the line."

Only about 5 per cent of firefighters are female and apparently this needs to be addressed. Who wants their life saved by a symbol of the patriarchy? Better to be burnt alive knowing that you are a martyr standing up against historic sociopolitical oppression.

Why has this madness that men and women are equal along all axes taken over? It’s simply not true, women are profoundly weaker than men.

The whole concept of violence against women being a unique cruelty doesn’t make sense unless you understand men as being significantly stronger than women. But if you deny that fact, then violence against women is just another form of violence, and a much smaller component of overall violence not deserving of the special attention it gets.

There's some weird fantasy going on. There's a push to get women into roles that are traditionally male because of their stronger physicality - such as firefighting, police and army. The reasons for this are kept vague such as 'diversity' or 'we need to reflect the society we are representing'. How far do we fractionate the different groups in our society to be able to reflect them? Does the army need to have 50% women who are 5% Muslim and 2% in wheelchairs? We have already seen attempts to achieve gender equality goals by lowering physical entry requirements.

The domestic violence stats are best explained by that males and females are equally likely to start a fight but the larger more physically able person will dominate. There is a good correlation between violence, both domestic and otherwise, with low socio-economic background, indigenous, alcohol abuse, living in a remote community. Same sex relationships also have a higher rate of domestic violence.

That's only a small part of the equation when you're talking about stats. Females are more likely to strike their male partner than the other way around. I think it's more significant that DV involving a female perp and male victim is massively under-reported compared to the reverse.

I live in the northern suburbs close enough to the hipster central of Melbourne. My son goes to the local public school.

They totally celebrated father's day - I got a beanie with Legend Dad on it, a BBQ apron and a new notebook which he all purchased at the school father's day stall.

Feels like we're jumping at shadows again.

It's not just physical entry requirements, it's academic requirements too now (like the University of Technology Sydney lowering the entry score for female applicants in STEM courses). It's like on one hand our society is saying women are totally equal to men and can do anything a man can do, but then acting like being a woman is a disability by making all these concessions and lower standards for women. If women are truly equal to men, why can't they simply let them be equal instead of legislating it into practice?

These threads are killing this forum, and is tabloiding political debate as a whole.

This is another non-issue.
Yeah those threads about impending nazigeddon you keep starting are WAY better.

BBQ tofu FTW.
