I was under the impression it was because the MotoGP had to be shown at the same time and that it made more sense to show the AFL GF on their standard channel as more ppl have access to that then oneHD. I don't really care as long as the replay they show is not an upscale and was originally recorded in HD.

Just read that they are replaying it in HD on One later.

So they ARE filming in HD which is what counts.

I mean in all honesty, if we lose then it won't matter. If we win, at least you can watch the replay in HD, and buy the Blu-ray.

My personaly hope is that they properly upscale last year's GF Replay in HD and release a Back 2 Back Blu-ray pack if we win.

Oh so they released 2010 as a blu ray but it wasnt full high def? Thats dodgy as!!
So did the bluray from the draw include the 3d broadcast too?

Cats fans still havent got a blu ray release of 09 in full high def even though it was broadcast on onehd.

Hate to burst your bubble but in fact most of the games shown on free to air that aren't immediately broadcast in HD are in fact recorded on SD equiptment.

Well AFAIK all the finals have been filmed on HD equipment, they've just been sent out as SD.

I know this because of an interview with the Foxtel CEO on SEN that I listened to shortly after broadcast rights were announced. In this interview he (can't recall his name) talked of how next year they will capture the stream from Channel 10 and when in SD, they will so what is called "up-res" the image. All it is is a program that adds pixels to the image and slightly improves the quality however is no-where near true HD. He said that this was the best they could do with the stream they capture.

Yeah I heard that interview as well - upscaling isn't going to be terrific, but better then nothing I guess. The cynic in me wouldn't be surprised if the FTA broadcasters supply Foxtel with the SD signal, even if HD was available. Like I said though, that's just cyncism on my behalf

Either way - I agree, HD should have been mandatory.
