Haven't talked to OldSchool or the other mods yet - but who wants a Poker board under the Gen Sports board? Obviously all of you, but now's the time to put your hand up.

Great idea!

also it will be alot easier to arrange for some big footy tourneys this way either live or online if we can get our own board!

Ive never been impressed by Gus Hansen, I always thought he was a player built by reputation more then by his skill and so forth. I think if you play Gus like any normal poker player you will beat him.

For those interested, I purchased a DVD a couple months back, Final Table Poker which is a final table with commentary (intermediate or advanced) by Phil Gordon. Goes through 20 or so strategies and includes a Starting Hand Guide and an Odds & Outs Chart. Great addition to the DVD is some funny poker commercials. For US $25, it's a worthwhile purchase.

So, since I replied to it first, I get to moderate this poker board, right? :p

I think it's just that he got very exposed by the WPT and people found how to play him and beat him over time.

There are a lot of good poker sites online, too, especially for beginners learning the game. I recommend:

http://www.cardplayer.com/
Here you can follow pro poker tourneys, and it's very useful for tips, too.

http://www.foldorraise.com/
This is a site where you can play pre-flop and post-flop hands (and even create some yourself), and even hands from WPT events. A very, very good site that I would recommend to people serious about improving their game.

http://www.homepokertourney.com/
A nice site that is useful for people wanting to set up home tournaments. Gives tips on everything from hosting multi-table tournaments, to building your very own poker table.

Other useful sites:

Also depending on how serious people are there are some good books out there as well.
Wont name them all but
SS1 & 2
Lee Jones-Low Limit Holdem
The Theory of Poker-skanlsky

And also just to give you an intro into the game watch the movie rounders with Matt Damon & Edward Norton

There are also loads more forums like 2+2,bet the pot,PS org, UPF

WPT just finished on Fox 8. Players and finishing orders:

6th: Mike Sexton
5th: TJ Cloutier
4th: Mike Caro
3rd: Phil Hellmuth Jr
2nd: Doyle Brunson
1st: David Sklansky

Well, 71 year old Texas Dolly just put on a clinical display of hold 'em poker on Fox8. Close to inflicting physical pain in heads up as Lee Watkinson made one bad call after another. Actually, Doyle played brilliantly and Lee was simply no match even though at one point he was a better than 3 to 1 chip leader.
