I agree with you, but the beauty of this board is that we don't manufacture things that we find amusing- BSW started out of nothing, was owned by the board, and if the general concensus is that its run its race, then it probably has.

It's thinly veiled but a clear whinge at the umpires.

He is actually closer to the truth with this statement than anyone who thinks there is some conscious decision to treat one team differently to the other. The crowd has a role to play, and that is in the realm of trying to tap into the subconscious mind of the individuals on the field.

The collective consciousness of the crowd (which is also responsible for the buzz/atmosphere that gets the goosebumps going) affects the players and umpires alike, obviously to varying degrees depending on the psyche of the individual.

The delineation of the specific neuropsychological processes involved has likely been a field of research given the money in sports across the world. I might do a brief lit review to find out.

So we obviously do something right over here at West Coast, meanwhile we'll laugh at the tears and melts of those who cannot grasp the nuances of how the home crowd advantages the home team wrt umpiring.
