Resting Beams while Sidebottom was already missing was a mistake. In fact it was arrogant.
But the OP is spot on. We have a mentality that we only have to show up to win these games & try to cruise through them.
GWS were in front of us on the MCG & 3/4 time last year. If we don't have what the players consider a challenge in front of them, then they are lazy.
However full marks to the Doggies. Had a red hot crack & showed us what hard tough footy is. They have lots to work with.

I agree we were horrible and deserved to lose.
But you also believe it is right to omit one of best players, purely because we should be good enough without him?
This is on top of Reid, Sidebottom, Maxwell etc. For an organisation focussed on the winning game, it appears we gave a sucker an even break.

As much is this loss hurts us I am kind of glad it happened and to a low side. I am hoping one day they learn from losses like this.

What did the players think was going to happen, just rock up and have a stroll around the MCG and leave with the four points. There is nothing we should be arrogant about, we have not beaten a good side this year and have been average for three years.

We did it against GC and Port last year and almost against GWS and have done it against Adelaide and WB this year. Too me that is not a top four side or a premiership threat at all, the players need to know when they are fourth they will be hunted especially by a side that got embarrassed last week against home to Brisbane.

They were always going to be fired up with all the crap in the media about them. Today we lost what chance we had to win this years flag. Some of our players need to answer a lot of questions. Young under pressure is a flipping disgrace, White, who I was wrapped we picked up was fumbling and moved like, well, Lynch!!!!!! our back line when the ball hit the ground were borderline embarrassing. Whoever is the clearance coach in the middle should flipping should, hang and buried on Monday..... I'm obviously PISSED off but this was and will be remembered as the lowlight turning point of what will be a disappointing year from here on.

Players that should give back their wage in order of embarrassment.

We play like millionaires or the globe trotters. We aren't skilled enough to play like that.

Keep it simple when we play these lower teans and we win but no we don't. We just think we can rock up to the ground and the opposition will hand us the 4 points.

It's frustrating and annoying as ****. Makes it so much funnier when we're not shocked when this group of players dish out shit like this.

Yes he is. Then we have Caff in the guts as well who did not win a single clearance for the game & only laid 2 tackles.
His opponent had 8 centre clearances ffs. This is why our clearance work is way down. Caff doesn't pull his weight in there & Swan waits for someone else to give it to him. With Beams rested that left us Pendles who was carrying a tag & Adams. Against Griffen & Libba with Minson feeding them we were never going to win the clearances. But resting Beams made it way worse. Imagine how bad the clearances would have been had Cooney not done a hammy early.

We've been too complacent for too long. I said it when we staggered over the line against West Coast. We use our ladder position to ignore our weaknesses and then we don't bother to put in a decent effort when we really need to.
