WC traded away dead wood and improved their draft position. Now have 4 picks inside 50. They didnt clearly 'win' any deals but they turned 2 guys who were gone anyway into an improved draft day.

Surely AFC could have done the same with Skipworth or Jericho. Even if it did just improved 3rd and 4th round picks, you never know those 4 or however many picks you improve might be the difference between snaring a guy you ranked highly or getting a lesser kid. WC did a similar think last year, turned pick 18 into 13 and managed to snare Hurn. Hurn would have been done and dusted by the time 18 came around, especially knowing AFC's picks.

If you were the WC recruiting manager would you of done that?

You mean players who we draft in the 50'sd and 60's ? You mean the players that are sure certainties like Balraj Singh and Brodie Atkinson ? Picks in the 50's and 60's wont keep clubs up towards the top of the ladder. Its not like you use these picks and get champions in to your team.

So why trade Skipworth and Jericho for these picks if you don;t think they are worth them?

Trading for the likes of Stevens and Massie, likes of whom we paid stuff all for, added great depth to our squad and played important parts in our team this year. There were a number of names floated about in trade week that did not get traded because teams put too much emphasis on their ****ing stupid draft picks. And if someone else tells me 'but this is a super draft', i'll ****ing spew.

Amen - sick of the "superdraft" getting annoying just hearing about it. I also think most clubs tend to rate there own players over late draft picks simply becuase I older guy who can fill-in the best 22 without hesitation is worth much more than pick 33.

so how do you convince other clubs that Jericho and Skipworth are woth Shannon Hurn if Shannon hurn is rated so highly and Skippy and Jericho aren't rated at all ?

this arguement that we could have got rid of Jericho and Skipworth and magically get a good pick form them

Jericho and Skipworth are worth much more to us - than any other club
