Is anyone else flabbergasted when Eddie suggests that the Magpies play no more than 4 games interstate each year. With three of those suggested for sydney that means only one game in brisbane, adelaide or perth. This means that other victorian teams wll play more away games to compensate

The draw isn't even but should be as even as possible. We can live with the 'blockbusters' eddie but this is too much

It's pretty much the same deal the AFL gave Nth when they agreed to play "home" games in Sydney - only one other non-Melbourne game.

I think what Eddie was quoted as saying in The Age this morning sums it up perfectly - the move would be "for the benefit of the Collingwood Football CLub". Well Eddie, that doesn't do much for me so you can go and take a running jump.

Yeah well Eddie doesn't get to tell me that, that's an honour reserved for my better half.

And given the stink over the deal done with Norff I reckon Eddie's got a snowball's chance in hell of getting that proposal through.

What I'm saying as 'equality' in the draw is all the rage at the moment, If Collingwooden has a guaranteed 18 games in melbourne, then so should all other VIC teams.

And what about swans supporters in melbourne ? Less and less games for them to see live - Shafted again 18 years on.

The Swans are going to disappear get used to it.
Eddie is trying to get into Sydney b4 the Bombers do b/c he is worried that we have more supporters in Australia than the cold pies do. He should be worried. We do.

Hang on, If Collingwood get 18 games in Melbourne, & all the other Melbourne based teams get 18 in melbourne then all the other clubs should get 18 in their respective states. Who's gunna play all those away games??

If the comp is going to be fair then all teams should play 11 home and 11 away. That means:
Brisbane & Sydney
play 11 at home
play 6 to 10 in melbourne
play 1 to 5 elsewhere

Adelaide, Power, Coasters, Freo play
12 at home ( 2 against the other local side)
6 to 10 in melbourne
0 to 4 elswhere

All Melbourne Based clubs play:
16 in Melbourne
6 elsewhere

Ok that means everyone plays only 11 games designated as home games. Any other games played in their own state are the other teams home game.

Each Melbourne based club plays every 'interstate' club away once.
All non Vic clubs play every team at home once and their sister clubs twice (because the AFL likes the local derby/showdown idea).
The remainng games are varied year to year so as to even out the draws over every three years roughly (ie: play all the other clubs at least 5 times each 3 years)

Hope you can follow this, because this is what is currently done. The spanner that Eddie is trying to throw into the works is that he wants the Maggies to play some of their away games in Sydney thereby benefiting Collingwood. I believe that the Kangaroo's Sydney games are their own home games (correct me if I am wrong there). This arrangement does not upset the draw the AFL desire because it doesnt really put out the opponent who were playing away anyway.

I think I am confused now.
