Has all the traits - marking, kicking, size, so wish we hadve made the switch sooner.
Pls keep up this form and we could finally have a new KPB within our own ranks…

Absolutely agree.
Read the play well, intercepted well, good hands and nice steady kick in defence (unlike say Jiath and Ryan who you panic every time they have to kick)

The only query at afl level would be does he have the speed and agility to play on the gun forwards
But can’t do any more than he did today

Hopefully no more. His kicking and decision making are not for defence

He is not much better as a Forward

Only good position he plays is in the Ruck and he is nothing Fantastic that either

He's only 20, so plenty of scope to develop into a real good defender.

If Moore and Frampton are available he might not get a look
But a short break where Moore is not risked he might be a chance against the right opposition

Ideally 4-6 weeks grounding at VFL level in defence first

We'd prefer he gets his opportunity to play defence in the seniors because he's earnt it. Not because we have literally no one else left

Quite a bit of intercepting through good positioning but a few good spoils too

Mostly intercepting and pack marking. Prob played more like Moore than Frampton. Looks a genuine back for mine, and made good decisions with ball in hand. Has always been a good field kick, but was calm and efficient by hand today as well

This was a huge positive in the VFL match yesterday
He was great as a key back
Intercept marking and was strong in air.

We are crying out for key back depth and someone to put pressure on for spots…I think he has found his go down back

It’s a blessing in disguise really as we really needed to add a player in the MSD for me and get in another opportunity before seasons end

So good to see Howes play to a high level. Doing it as a defender aligns to our lack of depth. I want him to succeed as a forward more. Reef going down is just so disappointing.

I like him in defence, he’s got sticky hands and seems to be a reasonable field kick. He was the one I suggested move to defence at the end of last year, so I’m glad to see him make the transition.

It's great to think that he could end up playing either end. His versatility would have to be a huge bonus if he keeps it up.
I think he's really hungry to succeed and willing to work at it.
