… we’ve got at least 1 more year of Membrey , 2 more years of McStay, Mihocek looks in good enough form to go around again, and West will solve world peace.

Maybe it wasn't him but more Nicholls he was too similar too.
But with national champs, you can't play them all, all the talls at once.

West and Howes weren't very good at that stage. More likely it was just a case that they were battling to be the last forward picked.

Not sure. In the early nominations you can tell who nominated 18 months, but he wasnt in the first batch, and with the full list they didnt put who nominated what, so hard to say

I can’t imagine there’d be many who would put an 18 month contract on their head? Makes sense for those who have a family, but probably not many who nominate for the draft would have families.

It happens a little bit, varies from player to player. Most still only nominate the 6 months and then earn the extension.
Smit, Begg were on 18 month contracts.
Some young players do nominate it for security if they think there is a good chance they'll be taken

You've got a really good young lad here.

I know the Howes family very well - and Noah in particular. He had a significant shoulder injury last year which led teams to overlook him at the national draft. He went about his rehab like a pro and was thrown into the deep end of the SANFL seniors for round 1 coming off the injury, and has held his own.

His best performance this season was a 3 goal game on Good Friday.

I really hope he gets a fair crack at things because he's got all the intangibles, and his frame suggests he's going to be a huge mountain of a man in time.

The only thing I'm disappointed about him getting drafted is that he didn't get picked up by Port
