The inability of either to do a whole lot when the ball hits the deck is the issue

It’s an issue for most fwds of that size - Cadman is a freak in that regard but Hogan by comparison is a dud - however, both are effective in their own way.

I don’t think it a deal breaker as long as you have capable smalls who are elite at ground level.

I hope not, I think he's showed enough for at least another year. Didn't he kick 5 goals in one match?
Surely that has to be worth something?
He's still only 19 although his birthday is later this month.

Always a tough ask to assess players after just half a season. Probably need to concentrate on his strengths rather than weaknesses in formulating a decision about an extension

I’m more concerned with his aerial ability than his ground ball/ second efforts from what I’ve seen. Gave me Krueger vibes a bit. But seemed quick/agile for a tall and maybe worth persisting for 12 months. Appears list spots are tight so wouldn’t be surprised if he’s cut though.

It was pretty crowded in the forward line a lot of the time.
So many players wanting to kick goals rather than passing the ball.
When it was passed it was usually straight to Coxy if he was playing.
I just think he's done enough to get another year. Even though the list is very tight.

I said originally that Howes was an ordinary VFL level player. I still believe that but that doesn’t mean if he goes back to a state league full time that he won’t make a good forward just needs some guidance and structure. Could be a good player at 22 but we really can’t hold onto someone that long can we (Reef)

From those video,s he has a nice kicking action and generally quite accurate and when the ball hit,s the hands it usually stays there. Probably not as agile as Krueger was but he moves alright for a big man it also looks like he competes well.

He will never be a star but he is probably handier than most of the other big forwards we have brought in, and as someone said still only 19 and if we had not had the great fortune to draft Charlie most of us would be salivating at the thought of Noah.

Plenty to work with - I hope he keeps his spot on the list.

Yeah - I don't like 6 months and cut, but I don't think he showed much in terms of contested stuff. A bit unbalanced.

Took a few games to get going and then kicked goals in five of his last seven games, including bags of 5, 4 & 3. If you take his first three games out of it, where he was obviously struggling a bit to settle in and find his feet, he's kicked 15.5 in seven games.

Definitely like to see him given another year.

I reckon he moves well for a big man and when in contested mode he plants his feet and he is hard to move. As No Spin said he has other avenues to score,he has a good boot on him and quite accurate crumbing goals so I fail to see how he could be unbalanced, and nothing wrong with his contested stuff either. 15.5 shows his accuracy and the first 2 games he played we had 5 talls with Cox and Steene going through there also.

I think he has potential. He deserves a couple more years at the club. Big kids like this should be given time to at least 22 years of age IMO. Getting AFL standard fitness, learning forward craft, confidence etc.

The fact he is only 19 and has kicked a few goals shows he has something.

I tend to agree.
Def worthy of an extended contract of at least one yr.
Had good moments and can kick.
Persist.

I think he’s in a little bit of trouble with both Buller and likely McCarthy.

Would still give him a 12 month contract. Who knows , he might show few traits that another club might find tempting and consider trading for him.

I think Howes May well be offered a rookie spot.
Mountain Man replaces Checkers, whilst also playing the Cox/McStay role.
McCarthy potentially replaces Cox on the list.
