Just for the record he did play 11 VFL games this year (for 15 goals).

The club managed to get that wrong on Instagram!

And Twitter/X!:

This site also has it wrong: https://vfl.aflmstats.com/player/Noah_Howes

Somehow, they've missed his first game! He played against Box Hill in Rd. 10 (scoring 0.2), just a few days after he was drafted. So he didn't score a goal in his first four games, but did rather nicely after that quiet start.

The club does get it right here: https://www.collingwoodfc.com.au/news/1918871/rookie-duo-howes-and-sullivan-sign-on

Hopefully we can give him a good preseason training plan to have him looking like an AFL player in build. He looked a bit thick in the upper body to me this year.

Sir, I am appalled at your anti big boy stance here. On behalf of beefy dudes everywhere I say, enormous pecs are an uncontroversial asset and need to be encouraged.

Now its time for your bench presses. I'll spot.

Next you will be casting aspersions on guys with big asses. For shame.

It would be weird to think a guy was good enough to draft in May and then less than 6 months later, after playing 10 games for 15 goals in the VFL, to think "he's crap, throw him in the bin"

Not really.

When they get a player into the club, they get to see what they’re really like.

Are they quick to pick up the gameplan, follow instructions, work hard, contribute positively to the culture, and enjoy pineapple on pizzas?

Or are they a talented toxic drongo?

So under your acclaimed testing methodology, does the toxic drongo eat the pineapple or get the pineapple?

You'd have to think someone would have to show pretty horrific character traits in 5 months to make that call that quickly despite them playing reasonable well.

Agree, reckon we've got a lot to work with if he can get himself fit.

Us fans like to lionise players.

But take any bus-load of cashed up 20 / 30 year males, and sure, there’ll be those who are disciplined and set the standards. And there’ll be those who do the opposite of that - and us punters would have NFI who is in that category, or what they do behind the scenes.

Ed has made that point on his podcast. He even coined a term for those players: “bread roll eaters”.

Agree with the fitness part, if he can be serious and get super fit with a professional outfit, sky is the limit, this is his chance - he has the build and has the right traits, I do think he is perfect to be a Backman though in how he is built and attacks the ball, this will allow Buller & West to have long stints up forward.
