Simon Prestigiacomo was drafted as a CHF.

Sometimes there are traits in a player which make them more suitable to play behind the ball that wasn’t as noticeable in their junior career
Moore started as a KPF and Turned in the an All Australian KPD

I'm not as bullish on West. Yes he has shown flashed in the vfl but he completely lost when he played seniors.

West may end up a good AFL player but he has a long way to go. He is mid size forward like Mihocek, who thrived by having an unbelievable work rate and hunger for a contest. Can West do the same?

I don't think West will play in front of Buller, McStay or Membrey next year. He'll get a game if there are injuries.

Played 1 Game and was not very Good Structurally for him

It's kind of wide open who could be our 2 or 3 Tall Forwards start next season will be

That’s not what you said though when you said he looked completely lost. Of course he will have to prove himself but nobody had a more promising VFL season than him

He did and TBH they did him no favours playing him with the other 3 talls. He looked like he just wanted to get out of their way.

I don't have an any issues with West. I hope he is a star but I'm happy to wait until he plays a block of AFL games before anointing him.

I don't see the point in comparing Charlie to Brody.
We didn't see what Brody could or couldn't do when he was 19 years old.

As was playing TSL Footy in Tassie

You said he looked completely lost. No backing out of that comment.

Agree with the fitness part, if he can be serious and get super fit with a professional outfit, sky is the limit, this is his chance - he has the build and has the right traits, I do think he is perfect to be a Backman though in how he is built and attacks the ball, this will allow Buller & West to have long stints up forward.

Would be quite fitting if Howesy becomes the long term replacement for Howey.

Jono Brown was hopeless in his first few AFL games. Westy will make it.

VFL stats
Jack Buller 24 played 35:38
Charlie West 10 played 24:11
Noah Howes 10 played 15:8

Also, when we recruited Brody, he was a completely different player to the one who was thrown forward due to necessity. If not for all those injuries to key forwards, who knows what type of career he would have had.
Interestingly - it was injuries to KPD we had that year.

Big Charlie kicked 25 VFL goals in 2025. He was our leading VFL goalkicker, and the club has that figure in it's records: https://forever.collingwoodfc.com.au/the-reserves

A mistake was made in the statistics on the VFL website for the Rd. 3 game against Coburg, with West shown as booting 4 and Hoskin-Elliott 2 (it was 5 and 1 respectively).

No doubt because of that mistake, some other sources have him with 24 for the season, but that isn't correct: https://www.playhq.com/public/profile/9998959d-6837-4afc-b0b4-7c2d64f5541b/statistics
You can watch every last one of his VFL goals here!: https://www.collingwoodfc.com.au/video/1813001/every-charlie-west-vfl-goal
That clearly shows the 5 from the Coburg game. Rather strangely, in that video they seem to have included a goal Oscar Steene scored against North Melbourne (West didn't kick any that day), but Charlie's 25 goals are all there, and they've been counted correctly!

And as I pointed out the other day, Noah Howes played 11 games, and scored (what presumably was) 15.10 (15.8 + 0.2). Inexplicably, this site missed his first game, where he scored 0.2 against Box Hill Hawks (Rd. 10). Roan Steele played his first game for us that day as well, and they've also left him out, showing only 21 players for Collingwood: https://vfl.aflmstats.com/game/2025-10-haw-col

Yep, got my stats from

Thanks for clearing that up.

This is true but I think he could have been AA forward, I’m not complaining
Still can't believe that he kicked 5 goals as a CHF in a game against the Doggies in his Rising Star eligible period and didn't get a nomination

The extension seems pretty logical.

I can see him being trialed down back as well, along with McCarthy if he gets to us.

But the West/Howes/Buller forward structure does look very interesting!
