Ross Lyon seems better suited to a mid table team looking to surge into finals.

Nathan Buckley might be open to it but he only like players that operate his way. Would take a few years to clean the list out.

Hird/McVeigh seem to be doing alright at the Giants. Do they really want to come back to the VIC Media though?

Choc Williams and Alan Richardson have a reputation of being great with kids/developing teams. Their time at Melbourne could be important in bringing successful IP to a bottom club.

Going to be a really tough sell from North though. They are as rock bottom as it gets.

According to the North Chairman Ben Buckley when he was hired, he had until next year (potentially this year) to get them into top 4 and contending...

Look at Carlton as the example. Whilst it is just three-quarters into the season, the Club is certainly looking better than what it has been over the past 5+ years, but the cleanout went beyond just the senior coach. They surely aren't that oblivious to think that Noble was the only roadblock to progression and improvement.

The turn over of senior coaches is pathetic. Disposable entities that are treated as such. I guess if anyone considers that he now doesn’t have a job or income?

Surely it’s not his fault entirely that the club is in this mess.

Feel bad for him. He didn't even want the role.

Paul Roos convinced him, then permanently relocated to Hawaii and is still in a 'consulting & mentoring' role over there. That's potentially a bigger pisstake than Steven Trigg being Carltons CEO from SA.

Some of the things people write are extraordinary. If that was the case he wouldn’t have taken it. No one is forced to do anything.

Why would anyone want to take the North job? It's potentially career suicide. You may never have another job in the game after it highly likely goes **** up there again.

The list is that bad.
Compare it to most other lists and you will see what i mean.
Noble did a poor job but very few coaches could do anything with this list. It still needs another 15-20players turned over before it is anywhere near competitive. Thrashings are expected.

The list is bad. But it was still wayyy under performed. And obviously Noble has paid the price for that.

You still want to see young players becoming legitimate AFL contributors and 50 - 80 gamers becoming above average/good AFL players

I just don't think there have been enough players improving, building and firming as definite AFL level players.

I dont. IMO the right coach can turn them around and heading in the right direction within 2 seasons.

Imagine gutting your list to bottom out then a year later deciding the senior coaching position is win-loss based. Regardless of who was coach he would have been a dead man walking. Likely the same scenario for whoever gets appointed now.

Won't be too many highly credentialed coaches jumping to take the job under those circumstances.

Agree with you to an extent on this one, but they also expected to see at least minor improvement from last year, not to go backwards and that’s where it all falls down to

Honestly i think a good experienced coach would improve things like their culture and standards off field but in terms of on field they are at least 3-5 years away. I see a heap of players on their list that are barely vfl standard and shouldnt be on an afl list and they need to turn over them all and replace them with good talent which is hard to do when they have limited capital (ie not many picks this year). Goldstein aside (what has happened to cunnington is unfortunate) they have very poor quality of veterans so there are going to be many more thrashings before the ship turns around imo. Unfortunately their job is not one that will appeal to many coaches.

Brad Scott must be laughing it up right now. The things North fans would give for bland 8th placed finishes. ESL Shaw really set them back 5 years when he delisted 1/3 of the list in a year lol.
