Can anyone tell me if Noble Win has retired? As a long time fan of this SA sprinter with a booming finish, I haven't seen his name for a few months now, and given his last few preps have been ordinary at best, I figure he's out to pasture.

Where is the old dog?

The old dog was retired last year after a stellar career. He is now down on the farm looking after David Jolly's 2 year olds with the great Lazing About......

I was lucky enough to be in syndicates that had an interest in both horses.

They were both good horses. I had several wins on old Lazing.

Cameo King fails to mention that such was his love of Noble Win that he almost lost his job over the horse.

The Adelaide sprinter had made a rare trip across the Border for a good quality midweek event at Weribee. Cameo King was busily in month end reporting at an unamed global conglomerate when he noticed his idol was racing just a hop skip and jump away. He then left the Office raced down the Princess Hway to watch it and left the paperwork in an unreliable sidekicks hand, BMOC. Fair to say the proverbial hit the fan, when the managers found out.

Noble Win lost but the day it is still known as Noble Win Wednesday. The race was won by Botero, who motored home appreciating the HECTIC pace set by Secuatuers.

Personally i think Grace and Power is a superior Adelaide 1000m horse than Noble Win but i did enjoy some victories on him, most nontably on Turnbul Stakes Day at Victoria Park when it paid an absurd A$20.

a well deserved retirement noble win.

one weekend a few years ago, when we took our horse over to adelaide to race at victoria park, our horse stayed at david jollys stable's, and he gave us a tip for noble win which was running the following day as well. he saluted at bout 4-1!!! the jolly family let us into there stables with open arms and are the nicest people you will ever meet.

Sadly I must confirm that Alphonse's story is true. Sure I nearly lost my job, but how many other Victorian punters can say they've seen their favourite SA sprinter in the flesh. Some like Grace & Power, some Mt Billy, some Savage Attack, some Chatz, but for me it's always NOBLE WIN.

Farewell old boy.

I'm with you Cameo.
For reasons which have never really been explained Noble Win and another Adelaide nag Like Jon were ALWAYS consideably better odds on our tote than in SA

Hilton used to belt the old boy home. Did he win the sprint at Oakbank one year? Recall being completely poleaxed at that particular event and watching him get home

Hehe nah Secateurs held on by a nose. Had the double with Roman Arch who won the Cup that day.

Unsure if Noble Win won the sprint at Oakbank. As Alphonse previously mentioned, his Turnbull Stakes Day heroics are foremost in my mind, winning in 04-05. 2004 in a blanket finish he somehow got up, then in 2005 at the S/TAB price of $20 he bolted in. Fair point about S/TAB being much better than U/TAB. Clearly most Victorian punters didn't pay Noble Win his dues.
