australian cup- 55 entries and if all of them were going to run, what a race we would be install for.....miss finland, maybe better, desert war, efficient,el segundo, lad of the manor, pompeii ruler, sphenophyta, tawqeet, railings, marasco, gallant guru, brom felinity and aqua d'amore. what a line up!!! the surprising entrant is the warrnambool galloper called baughurst who won impressively here last friday, but failed to back up on sunday!!

early tip=el segundo

newmarket handicap- 63 entries for this race which as has large number of up and comers entered for the race which include haradasun, miss finland, zipanese, zupaone, splashing out, fast n famous, rewaaya, permaiscous, nediyms glow, i got chills-his back, here de angels, gold edition, magnus, marasco, estelle collection, and churchill downs. out of the older horses who have strong credentials in the race include dance hero, cocinero, darci brahma, miss andretti, niconero, virage de fortune, undue and danerich. this could also turn out to be a cracker of a race. my favourite POETS VOICE has also been entered but i have a feeling the 1200m may be between 100m-200m too far.

early tip= virage de fortune

cadbury guineas- a staggering 137 horses have been entered for this race which is worth over $775,000. efficient, haradasun, here de angels, miss finland, permaiscous look to be the main chances. looking through the nominations, david hayes has a very strong hand with his good bunch of 3yr olds.

early tip= haradasun

Some funny stuff in that article.
Dubai Duty Free, tell em theyre dreaming

"New superster of the Australian turf",please.
Could we see her race out of her own age group before we start declaring her the new MD.

"She'll run in the Orr Stks & should she come out & be devastating"

At least Hayes appears to have a grip on reality:
"But who knows, she might find the boys a little tough & we'll have to keep her against her own sex"

So she's going from World Cup night to the Coolmore,a fillies & mares race.

Look,we all know she's the dominant 3yo filly of her year. But they avoided the colts in the C Guineas & went the soft option to the 1000 Guineas, where she fell in by a lip.

The Oaks is usually an awful guide to future success & while she was arguably unlucky in the Cox Plate, she couldnt weigh in in one of the weakest CP's in memory with 46kg.

Its gunna be hype overload soon with her,Efficient & Haradasun.

Jeez Haradasun virtually has a daily column devoted to him at the moment in the papers!

All this hype will only bring down his odd's when he cleans up ;)

The new Circles of Gold yearling out of Redoutes Choice has been named - Coubertan - if everything goes alright you would think it will be a real goer also.

Australia Cup Id be looking at El Segundo, Pompeii Ruler and Efficient as the best chances. Aqua D'Amore will probably run a placing as per usual though.

The sprint - I fancy the up and comers Gold Edition, Court Command and Fast n Famous over the current established sprinters (Dance Hero, Miss Andretti, Shadoways). I Got Chills creates intrigue.

Guineas - Harada of course, would be nice to see him and Miss Finland slug it out though.

While I'm at it the Blue Diamond will be out of Husson Lightning, Zizou, Victory Chant and Royal Asscher.

Cannot agree with Cox plate thought. El Segundo, Pompeii Ruler, Field Of Omagh, Racing To Win is a worthy field.

It looked stronger with the imported horse adding some mystique.
But overall I'd say there was very little depth.

There was no established WFA stars apart from the winner, all the other 3 were new to WFA racing in the last 12 mths,PR in the last 3 months.
RTW was a serious distance doubt.

IMO it will be looked on as a very weak Cox Plate in the future.
This years already looks stronger if the current 3yo's get there.

Hit the nail there mate. If Pompeii Ruler turns out to be as good as I reckon and Miss Finland proves herself as an older open age horse, and Grey Swallow performs in the autumn the plate will be viewed as top class, if they all dissapoint, then you will be correct.

Im certainly hoping a couple of other WFA stars emerge.I think Aust racing is in trouble if Miss Finland & P Ruler prove to be our best.

P Ruler improved 15 lengths this year & IMO they dont often do that twice. His CP run was good but they walked & he had a perfect run so he was entitled to run well. The winner & 2nd horse came from 10+ lengths behind him, covering ground off a slow pace & beat him so Im not getting carried away just yet.

As for Miss Finland, the "I was unlucky" debate will never be solved so lets just see how she goes racing fit, seasoned horses with a decent weight.
Probably be handy if they just cut the crap & decided on a program for her.

Pompeii Ruler is still very inepxerienced. He will improve again. I fail to see why Miss Finland gets bagged. She won the slipper by 6, Flew home against bias and pace to win the 1000 Guineas and was clearly superior to the stayers in the oaks. i reckon Special Harmony and Serenade Rose are to blame as they didnt really go after great 3yo seasons. MF is the real deal.

Im not bagging her,I said she's clearly the superior 3yo filly of her year.
She was too good for inferior fillies at set weights.
Who knows how good that crop of 3yo's fillies is? Tuesday Joy looks a decent filly but the rest, who knows?
Past Oaks winners arent that relevant, what she beat may be.

Of all the best WFA mares in recent history,IMO none of them were stellar 3yo's except Sunline & she wasnt subjected to a Cox Plate at 3.
Lets Elope,MD,Horlicks,I dont think its a co-incidence that they werent flogged as young horses.
She's yet to convince me she'll be an open age star, thats all.
Happy to be proved wrong,it happens occasionally.

I like Pompeii Ruler as a horse but I cant remember the last horse who improved that much at 4 then took the next step.He has come from nowhere.

Racing's looking for a new hero/heroine but they dont come along that often, especially great mares.I can count them on one hand in the last 20yrs
