Went to Dunedin over the weekend , watched my first live Union game Highlanders v Rebels.
Gotta say it was pretty good.
One thing that stood out , the aesthetics are so much better with only the players and one umpire on the ground.
No runners , water boys and you need to have a near death experience before the doc runs out.
They are some tough hombres !

Massive story still to follow Re the Rebels players getting in an altercation after the game. Stand by.

Interesting fronk.
I stayed at the same hotel adjoining the Casino.
All seemed " normal" Sunday morning.
Nightclub hi jinks ?

My brother leaves on his trip from downstate Illinois to visit me in a few hours. He'll get here early Monday morning. He'll be renting a car and will be driving from Tullamarine to Keilor East via Rt 39. Just thought I'd warn you since he's never driven on the left hand side of the road. It might be worth your while to avoid Rt 39 Monday morning. Please pray for me.

LOL I originally had Rt 59, which is a highway near my old home outside of Chicago.

lol Rt 39. Bloody Yank, we have names for roads here not numbers! :p

(yeah ok we have them too but it is against the social law to use them... you'll get extra flies in summer if you do, or something )

Hey, it has about three names from the airport to Keilor East -Sharps Rd, Keilor Park Dr and Milleara Rd!!!!!!! How does a road change names as one drives on it? Magic? It has the fewest right hand turns so it should be the safest.

And only about four of those pesky roundabouts.

We might never get home!

What a ******* joke the Victorian government is.

See the new tenant laws passed in?
  • Tenants can have pets in their house without asking permission
  • Allow a request for their bond to be paid back. If no response by landlord then refunded within 14 days
  • Minor modifications allowed without the landlord permission (let's see how far "minor" takes us)
  • Landlord can't vacate the tenant without a reason
  • Bond capped at 4 weeks
  • Can only increase rent once a year, not every 6 months
Beyond a joke, landlords should be able to make rules how they want (within reason mind you). Because the landlord worked hard to have an investment, means they lose rights to tenants? Landlords house, not the tenants. The tenant should be grateful and respecting the landlord's wishes, after all, it's the landlord's house.

So I see you haven't dealt with terrible landlords. This is only blowback because of landlords that are incredibly unreasonable, won't allow their tenants to do anything, won't respond to any problems, will change things without warning etc.

There are definitely reasonable landlords, and these changes are unfair for them. Realistically tenant and landlord should just both be nice people but we both know that just doesn't happen most of the time.

This made me LOL. I know a guy (i live in a small community) who has six! investment properties and has never worked a day in his life. He inherited the money from his old man who was a known drug dealer and also never worked a day in his life.

He spends his days at the pub and beach hanging out with his mates collecting 2k+ per week for doing sfa and driving up rental prices for all people whilst good friends of mine who work their arses off struggle to make ends meet!

What a beautiful system we live in...

Agreed that landlords should be a bit more reasonable but at the end of the day, it's their house. Don't like it? Move out.

I'm a landlord (as you could probably tell) and always keep the house up to date and fix any issues. Before I got it, it was destroyed by pets. Spent lots of $$ fixing it, why would I want another tenant to bring in pets to destroy it again? Do I work hard every day to allow tenants in my house to destroy it?

My new tenant asked for pets, I said outside only. If pets are inside then it will break the contract. Landlord was happy, but I'd be mega pissed if that was forced down my throat

I know the thread is random Bulldogs chatter, but this is way more random and way less Bulldogs related....

Not saying the system is perfect.

I guess I don't like that governments are putting in legislation to force how people live in the house when the owner might not agree.

Like I said, these new rules are super unfair for landlords like you, and I can see you getting screwed massively over the 'minor' modifications. But unfortunately in mine and my mates' experiences landlords like you are few and far between.

It's sad.

I wouldn't mind a few nails in the wall from the tenant (just take them down on the way out and cover it up) on the way out. Government just regulates too much, always tinking with things.

Here's a suggestion, look further into the bank sector and find out why people can't afford mortgages yet there are interest rate rises? Go figure

I'm soon to look at buying another house to invest or live in, the bank is saying I can borrow x amount. They STILL try and get people to pump so much money into them. No way will I borrow what they say I can, why would I want to be in so much debt lol

All look like great rules to me.
