I’m still a fan despite his frustrations. I like him at 6 in our current setup. We’ve had a lot of guys who take a long time to get themselves in over the past few years. The Marsh’s, Handscomb, Voges, Nevill and Wade all take a while to get set and I think when we lose momentum we are very prone to collapses. I see Maxwell as someone who can play a role similar to what Quinton de Kock plays for South Africa. Can come in with us in a bit of trouble and score some quick counterattacking runs and put the pressure back on the bowling side again.

What’s your thoughts on the keeping situation?

I believe admin has very limited control (i.e. they approve the ad network, who show whatever they want as long as they follow T&Cs), however Chief is able to block individual ads if he deems it appropriate. I'm not familiar with the person so I can't really pass judgment, but if you believe it is genuinely inappropriate for the ads to be on display here it is worth getting into contact with Chief.

Bancroft is in the realm of Handscomb in terms of keeping skills from what I've heard. Maybe somewhere between Handscomb and Wade.

I'd pick Cartwright at 6. Nevill to keep and Bancroft to open in place of Renshaw who is horribly out of form. The rest picks itself.

Bancroft cracked another 160 n.o. today, he's in some form atm.

Ah ok, that’s not great. As I said I’m not concerned about having a gun keeper but you can’t afford to have a complete liability like Handscomb would be. Even Nevill I would only consider as a safe keeper, nothing I’ve seen from him has lived up to what he gets talked about in the media. Struggled a lot keeping off Hogg’s bowling in the big bash. If he could replicate his Shield form at test level he’d be handy. Far better keeper than Wade still.

Great to see Bancroft making some big runs at Shield level. He’s shown a heap of potential in the past few years but quite often follows his good scores with a string of low ones. Consistently dominating at the moment. I think it’d be a little harsh on Renshaw to be dropped, I think he has the temperament to turn around his form and make runs in the Ashes, but if the only spot available for Bancroft is that opening spot then Renshaw could see himself out of the side.

Its fair enough for him to not play for not making runs but I think you should be able to overcome personal differences when coming up to an important ashes series. Michael Clarke was never dropped for being universally hated by his teammates

Dean Jones didn’t play for the same reason and I think Steve Smith has shown if you aren’t in his plans you aren’t playing.

I will admit I did get a giggle out of him when he shot down some rabid feminist in an interview I watched a whole ago, in the end he was simply baiting her and she couldn’t control herself but I actually aren’t aware of who or what he does.

Top 2 NBA teams that I can’t believe are so shit right now:

1. Charlotte - they should be a top 6 seed in the east. How did they spill that game to the Celts?? Batum back will help, but they’re good enough and deep enough (monk, kaminsky and zeller off the bench) to be much much better.

2. Milwaukee - 6-6 is an awful record for the talent on that roster. Pretty well constructed in my eyes, with plenty of length and 3 point shooting, not to mention a legit superstar. Maybe Bledsoe gets things moving for them.

Yeah I agree it would be harsh to drop Renshaw and it probably won't happen. If Bancroft was 30+ I probably wouldn't do it but the fact he's still very young and IMO is a better prospect than Renshaw and is in great form means I do it. Renshaw is only 21 so has lots of time to get back into the side. Bancroft had an off season last year which was probably the only reason why Renshaw got in ahead of him anyway. Bancroft had been pegged for years as a long term Aus opener.

Well outside of 4 players their roster is essentially terrible. I don't think that record is disappointing. If anything that record is a testament to the 4 or 5 guys at the top of the depth chart.

If you're giving a combined 70 minutes to tony snell, John Henson, and dellavedova, all 3 of which are borderline NBA players, you shouldn't be upset with a 500 start through a dozen games.
