Rip Phil Hughes. My thoughts are with his family and Sean Abbott. He must be feeling like the worst person in the country right now.

Just so devastated. What an awful couple of days.

I looked up to Phil - he debuted around the time that my cricket obsession kicked off, and I'd always hoped that his prodigious talent would be fulfilled.

Even knowing the dangers of facing a projectile travelling at 140km/h, nobody could have envisioned such a tragic outcome.

R.I.P., Phillip Hughes. A horrific reminder of the fleeting, spontaneous and downright unfair nature of life.

Thinking of everyone that has been hit hard by this news.

Spot on, don't recall feeling so sick in the guts due to something not personal to me since 9/11 and Bali. Hope Phil's family and friends are ok. RIP P Hughes, a very unlucky man.

Abbott did nothing hundreds of thousands of cricketers haven't done. Really hard to see him coming back and wanting to bowl a bouncer again. Terrible for him, tragic for Hughes and his friends and family, and just really sad for the wider cricket community.

Good post. I didn't know Phil too well but I knew him nonetheless. I've had beers with him over time and had a small chat to him on Sunday. He was just one of the best blokes you'll meet.

This was close to home for me so I've been a mess all day. It's only recently I've composed myself. It's just not fair.

Sorry to hear that. I don't follow cricket at all nor know Hughes from a bar of soap but even I've been affected by it. Can't imagine how it must feel for those closer to the situation. All the best mate.
