No, not at all. I still want my transporter machine. Anyone that doesn't answer that is kidding themselves.

Those questions are to see how people think. Some will say things like water, or food, or a knife to hunt/cut, and these guys will go for the logical solutions to problems. Then you have people that will say some sort of transporter, or a plane, or a travelator that extends to the nearest civilised town that has an airport. And those are the guys that are "out of the box thinkers" and will go for the smarter solution.

Or at least that's how the corporates see it.

I was the only one to say fresh water would be my priority in the Amazon and everyone else said you could just drink the water that is there...but I'm not so sure about that

Those questions actually influence the decision since most guys have similar qualifications or they're not overly important. So since the other people are idiots who will get sick and die from drinking water from the Amazon river, you've got a good shot at the job. Because you can last longer without food than water (obviously) so if you're not looking for a teleporter or similar then fresh water is priority numero uno. But if you're lost in the Amazon, well you're pretty much dead anyway.
