Lebron takes more attempted go-ahead shots than most of his peers I'd suggest. Interestingly though, in the last 3 minutes of this Game 6 Lebron gave up early and didn't want the ball - handing it off to others each possession. It was Smith who sparked the Cavs mini rally just when Lebron seemed resigned to losing. Kobe would never have given up in a Playoffs game when 12 points down with more than two minutes to play.

Lebron is an incredible player but let's not get carried away. He is in the conversation about the greatest players of the current era, along with Shaq, Kobe, Duncan. In my view he is not clearly the best of this era - perhaps no one is.

Just as people forget just how good Whitten, Skilton, Reynolds, Colemen were as time goes by, we forget how good MJ, Chamberlain, Johnson, Russell, Bird, Kareem, Bird, Erving, Olajuwon and West all were. Lebron is not (yet) legitimately in the conversation about the greatest ten players of all time.

Oh that's the other reason that gets put out which I forgot to mention... that Lebron gives up.... Do you want to see what giving up looks like?? Try this:

Nobody forgets how good MJ was, there's too many Bulls fans around that remind everyone at every opportunity ;)

Your opinion differs from the majority of basketball followers then because for at least 3 years now LeBron is the only one that's ever even compared to MJ. Since this thread I haven't seen a serious comparison of Kobe to MJ for yonks.

Lebron gets credit for drawing double teams in the post, but what about curry?? Dubs consistently played 4 on 3 off the pick and roll because of curry. Iguodala, Barnes and green don't get the numbers they do without curry drawing the double and having Klay's man have to stay with him as well. Just the presence of a special talent like curry changes the game for everyone.
Curry is ridiculous. Should stop that left handed shite though. Douche move.

Might also have a fair amount to do with Jordan lead Bulls being so dominant that they were already leading in the 4th in most playoff games.

Kobe is not compared to MJ as much today because injury and age have meant that Kobe's best is well behind him - it's an old conversation that has been well and truly settled in MJ's favour. Lebron, however, is at his peak now - of course a truly great player (which Lebron is) who is at the peak of his powers will draw comparisons with the greatest of all time. Kobe is nowhere near as good as MJ. I'm the first to admit that. Neither is Lebron, nor any other current day player though.

And if you think Kobe is a quitter and gives up then I believe that you truly have no idea whatsover. Kobe is acknowledged as one of the most fearsome competitors in any sport ... ever. Can you say that about Lebron? Please!

Lebron quit late in Game 6. Everyone knows it, even if they won't admit it.

Watch the last stanza of the game - if you can't recognise that Lebron had given up until JR Smith hit his second 3, then I can't help you.

Just gave some evidence of what actual giving up looks like, as opposed to making assists or passing to a player in a better position. Or is it just the vibe of things that you're forming the opinion that LBJ gave up?

Of course it's my opinion - Lebron isn't going to hold up a sign just so you can recognise the bleeding obvious.

i watched it Mutt. he drives to the rim inside two minutes. His 3 was off and plan B was give it to JR who can hit ridiculous shots. The concept of that representing him giving up is bollocks.

happy to accept that we've interpreted it very very differently but it's interesting that our interpretations both represent what we've stood for in this thread.

So bleeding obvious yet not a single mention of LeBron giving up in any press or forums I've read following the game.. in fact it's all been the opposite. But yeah I guess you're right. My bad.:rolleyes:

Going to exit here if that's your take away from his Game 6. That's some strong hate right there.

I'm not sure why my opinion bothers you so much but there you go.

I don't hate Lebron. I find it hard to like him though. For example - declaring himself the best player in the world when his team is about to face an elimination game in the Finals and they are playing against Steph Curry, the reining MVP. Hard to like someone with that breathtaking arrogance ...or stupidity.

so he has a losing finals record. In 3 of the 4 that he lost he had NO help. He's won more mvps than Jordan and Kobe at the same age, and as many titles as Jordan.

Also, just quoting their finals scoring stats is thoughtless. Lebron being an unbelievable shot creator for his teammates.

Another point, the info on him not nailing the clutch shots in games 1 and 2. Does it recognise that he took a team of nobodies (look at their numbers with him off the court) to overtime in game one and they still won the second one BECAUSE of him. Proves what i'm saying about clutch being a factor but not everything.

Also look at his RIDICULOUS amount of minutes and you might find another explanation for why his percentage drops later in games.

Week and a half out to my 2nd crack at the Gold Coast Marathon, along with 5800 others from here there and everywhere. Actually feel pretty pumped for it even though I've really only just recovered from a hamstring problem to get some decent training k's in.

I so badly want the Knicks to pick Porzingis, just to hear the collective meltdown from Knicks fans in the draft room.

Same here. He could get picked anywhere between 3-15 I think, cant wait to see him play. I'm assuming you are a lakers person, who you keen on for tomoz? From what Iv read there is every chance it don't matter as they will be traded to SAC..

Yeah it's hard to know what Porzingis could end up being in the NBA. There definitely seems to be a few scouts that are very high on him, but he seems like a longer term prospect.

For the Lakers, I'm probably hoping we go for the safer bet in Okafor, assuming Towns goes number 1.
I like D'Angelo Russell, but I'm not convinced his game will translate so well to the NBA.

A potential trade for Boogie Cousins would definitely throw a spanner in the works.

Bloody well hope so! Who have you got your eye on?

Looks like we're going to see a bunch of trades today.
It's amazing how you don't follow the draft when your team actually makes the finals. I have no idea!

Draft day is always exciting though. Can't wait to see where D Lee ends up.

Yeah time project player.

Big Jahlil is my choice too, he's an instant double double. Getting Boogie would be incredible. In the unlikely circumstances of that trade going down (would be sad to not see Randle strut his stuff in the purple and gold) and somehow getting Love to sign with us, that would drastically improve our chances of the great man appearing in the playoffs one last time. That would be nice
