GWS still delivering the goods

They apparently made a profit in running costs whole spend the 3rd highest in coaching budget on the league and had the lowest gate and merchandise sales by a mile.

Then they actually think they have 16k paying members when the real figure is around 7.2k.

If you look it's not hard to find how many memberships they give to NSWFL kids and parents that count towards their tally.

Is that point on giving away memberships actually true though? I know they give away plenty of tickets, for obvious reasons, but I haven't seen any evidence of them giving away memberships (like we do for Vic Uni students, although I don't believe they're counted in our tally)

Dear god don't try and tell demon or saints fans they aren't certainties to make the 8 this year.

Apparently both destined to be in and probably top 4.

Dezzi (and his new bf darthbutts) get quite upset if you don't accept the demons will win the flag. The reality is if Gawn gets injured they aren't any chance of making the 8.

Saints still try on too many to do everything. Very weak coach and weak underbelly when they need to be strong

I actually really rate both these teams for the upcoming season. I have us, GWS, Swans, Demons, Saints and the Crows as my top 6.

When Kevin Sheedy first went up to coach GWS he went to the
local McDonalds where he was given free tickets to the GWS
game.

Yeah, I don't really get the hype around Melbourne and St kilda. Not so much for the year coming up, but the fact that they're listed by many people as the next big 'powerhouse' teams of the comp. We are younger than both of them and have jagged a flag already..

Melbourne have one massive advantage over any up and coming team imo, they already have that 'star factor' that a lot of team struggle to get in Gawn, Hogan and Viney.

But when I read things like Oliver, Brayshaw and Petracca will be just as good if not better than Bont I just laugh.

Petracca will be a great player but I haven't seen enough of Brayshaw and I feel like Oliver will end up becoming a player like Wallis.

Recruiting Lewis and Hibberd help the Dee's a lot, especially Lewis (even if he is getting close to cooked). IMO Dee's biggest weakness is mental - Lewis and Hibberd are a couple of tough campaigners that will really help them.

I like what the coach is doing with Watts as well - making an example of their mentally weakest player is smart.

While younger, Melbourne's talent base is at least as good as ours IMO, and probably has a better spread. Salem, Tyson, the McDonalds, Hunt are all good young talents in addition to quality oldies like Lewis, Jones
and Vince. Brayshaw is highly rated and missed a lot of footy last year

Saints I rate lower. And may even slip when St Nick goes.

So Swans without McVeigh and Heeney for the start of the season. Heeney is a big loss for them, glandular fever can really knock you about, so hopefully they take their time and he makes it back ok.

That's huge for our game in round two. No Heeney or Mitchell in the midfield compared to last years GF. Mills will probably have to pick up the slack.

Buddy and the Swans in general are scintillating when they play at Etihad. Still going to be tough for us to get a win in that one.

Brayshaw is like a Wallis. Oliver is like a Crips but will never be fit enough to play enough minutes on the ground. Petracca is like Stringer and could be a star. The other two, not so much.

Out all the young talent talked about, I'd want Petracca in our team. Kid could be anything
I agree. I just think it's stupid that this Melbourne supporter was telling me they have three kids who are going to be the equal of Bontempelli. They don't. No one even has one. Cripps and Merrett are the only ones who come close.

1000%

My nephew lives in Sydney and every player in the league from about 20 teams get free memberships and parents get free 3 game memberships. They count to the memebership tally as they are "purchased" by the NSWFL.

Hopefully Heeney doesn't have glandular fever too bad. I know when I had it I was still effected 18 months later. Even though I was 'full recovered' I'd still get home from school at about 5 and sleep from then till 7:30 in the morning. It's a prick if a thing. You literally struggle to keep your eyes open from more than 45 minutes.

Yeah, even when it's passed it does a massive number on your fatigue levels. The year is essentially going to be gone for Heeney because of how long it'll take to recover fully.
