Makes me sick to see some of the stuff Jamarrah is saying on the suns social media. Glad he is “enjoying surrounding himself with good people and showing up to training every day”.

Massive ****wit.

Let it go, his posts read like Chat GPT creations.

Just get rid of the rookie list and go back to one main list. It serves no purpose anymore and hasn’t for nearly a decade
It’s a valuable list management tool to reduce cap load at the moment. Every rookie on your list has the first 100k of their salary exempt from TPP salary cap.

So if you maximise the rookie lists, you can effectively exclude 900k from the cap. This is why clubs don’t want to lose it.

Isn’t rookie list up to 6 Cat A and then 2 Cat B (but if you pay anything over $100k you’re not “saving” on Cat B)? How do you get to $900k?

Also couldn’t they just bump the cap $[900]k when scrapping it?

6 rookies + 3 Cat B as far as I’m aware. First 100k of every one of those contracts sits outside the cap. Anything in excess is included.

That fine, but the whole purpose and meaning of the Rookie List has been corrupted to the point it doesn't actually give many actual rookies a crack anymore, it's just a list shuffling tool particularly when you can delist then relist a 30 year old.

I agree. Should shift it to what it actually is. 2 spots for players over 32 and 2 spots for what is currently Cat B Rookies.
Scrap the need to delist prior to moving them to the now "leadership" spots and remove the ability to count the upgrading of the now "rival code" players to the mainlist toward the 3 mandatory list changes.

In the AFL desperation not to be seen as falling behind the NRL innovations. The AFL is doing the dumbest thing ever. Implementing an innovation that Dwayne Russel has been pushing harder than a constipated middle aged man can. On behalf of his broadcasting overlords. Which of course are the true driving forces behind this blue ribbon participation award idiocy.

The game is being run by clueless corporate hacks intent on killing the 127 year old golden goose with their constant tinkering with the game. Or to quote my dear old dad: "leave the ****ing game alone you dumb campaigners before you kill it dead!".

So stupid, Dillon is an absolute idiot.
Worst CEO ever. What pisses me off the most about him, is how he is deliberately obtuse. He is NOT popular, and many of the decisions he has made ARE NOT popular with the fans. Yet each time he comes out and gloats how it's good for the game, and that fans love it. The guy doesn't give one F what the fans want. That is the sign of a poor and weak leader. A good leader is able to balance the financial interests, fan interests, and equality of the game. He is only about the money and the obsession with the Americanization of everything. They don't care about the fans or fixing the actual issues of the game.

The worst part about Wild Card? Teams 7-10, now have to win 5 games to win the Grand Final, where teams 1-4 only have to win 3. Not even in the NFL or NBA, is there such a wide discrepancy. There is only a one game difference.

Hopefully the teams that finish 9th and 10th still have their mad Monday after the final H&A round then turn up to the "Wildcard Round" hangover and show the AFL what people really think about this stupid idea

Another idea I absolutely hate

My initial thoughts

1. Definitely have no excuse for not winning a final next season
2. Might kill off any chance of a team finishing 7th or lower ever winning a flag again. No pre-finals bye when everyone else has one seems too big of a disadvantage

Actually not against the idea of a final 10, 5 week finals series personally. Especially if Tassie comes in and we have a 19 team finals series, if we all agree that a final series should be approximately the top half of all teams.

But I think it's a bit silly to be giving six finals teams byes. If I'm watching footy four weeks before the grand final give me more than just the two games to watch. I really don't care if it's merely a sort of re-seeding game that if 6th beats 2nd that they get to "jump into" the top 4 equivalent for a similar finals series the following game. It's more good footy between two high-quality teams for me to watch in the pointy end of the season.
