I went to Gold Coast this year and nearly got into a fight, but maybe that's just me :p

I like their supporters though, I spoke to one on here quite extensively around the time that I was up there, and they were generally very friendly. I'd love to go to a footy match like that every week - brilliant sunshine, nice and warm, carnival atmosphere and so close to the play you can hear Liam Picken say 'Get up, Gaz.'
You have to avoid Broady when you're up there man...

It's so great, it's like a more professional VFL ground, and I mean that in the best of ways, and anyone who's been to Whitten Oval knows exactly what I mean.

Yeah, it's fantastic. The skeletal stands just add to it, for me. With the weather being so nice, it's perfect for the atmosphere. Loved seeing the kids having a kick on the ground next door, and all the little Bar/Food sheds around. Reminded me a little bit of the Melbourne Show, in a sense.

Nath , you obviously were not sitting 6 inches from the speakers playing that crap music at the start ?
But other than that a great night , and hope we go again next year.
Next time we should all assemble at the outside bar -------- you get the beer tickets !

Second row from the front, so no. As a rock/alt rock devotee I've trained myself to completely block out all of that crap, haha.

It'd be my pleasure to buy you a beer and have you talk my ear off about Tutt, if he's on the list next time I make it up there ;)

Its funny because if Macca was our coach in 2009, we'd probably have selected Fyfe over Howard :(:(:(

Imagine lining up on Fyfe, Bonts, Macrae and Stringer. Good ******* luck!

why doggies? why do you have to rip out my heart, kick it around on the ground, strap dynamite to it and stick it back in my chest for?

God, can't believe I haven't checked this thread before.
Now can we satisfy my inner hatred for melbourne and discuss why they're the afl's lovechild? It still riles me up that they asked for another priority pick last year.

Oh if that got you going, you're going to love this...

Yes, this is from this year. I almost died when I saw it. It's bad enough they likely end up with an extra top-five pick when Frawley leaves.

According to Carlton supporters, they need to learn to 'cheat' like the rest of the competition by ducking for frees, sucking in the umpires and taking advantage of other teams' mistakes (apparently this is cheating).

Considering that their captain is the poster boy for ducking for frees and that they wrote the book on cheating and a few sequels, I thought they'd be streets ahead of the competition.

I like that thread.

It amuses me that one Melbourne supporter believes there is a justifiable reason for them getting a priority pick, and the rest are just groaning, facepalming and apologising to the rest of us.

I'm glad others share my thoughts haha. I posted this in another thread but hell I'll post it again: how the hell does a team get caught cheating/tanking, punished then one year on gets a premiership winning coach instated and paid for by the AFL????
And Roos still had the Gaul to ask for another priority selection.
Oh and people seem to forget that they got two first rounders for the baked potato that is tom scully, compared to our one first round pick for our future captain and potential brownlow medalist.

I think that would be fair.

I'm in the camp that there should be no compensation for free agency though.
As am I. I don't like free agency in the first place but if you're going to implement it you can't have teams getting compensation - especially when it's partially calculated by the length/size of the contract. The freed up space in the salary cap is your reward.
