Its delicious to me that norf would elect to play Boomers 400th game 1600Km's away from their fan base and the game is only available to view on Foxtel.
Norf have truly Norfed their fans.
People have been criticising North over their handling of this 400th game milestone, but I think that it's all been totally exaggerated. Brad Scott got asked specifically about whether or not Harvey would play on next year, and it seems to me that he answered it honestly - all teams would do the exact same thing with any player who's getting on in years, no matter how much of a 'champion' he has been. And, Harvey seems to have done a few interviews and things this week, and since it's a personal milestone, not a team milestone, it seems totally reasonable to me that the team would only pay lip service to it - they've still got a chance of making the finals, and that's more important than the personal milestone of one player, in my opinion.
This criticism of playing his 400th game in Queensland I don't understand at all though. He's still clearly one of their best players and clearly deserves his place in the team, so why would they drop him? It was just the luck of the draw that this milestone happened to fall on a day when they would be playing interstate.
I think that if the team made a big song and dance about it then they would have been criticised (and Harvey would have been criticised for this as well, given the popular belief that he's an arrogant turd). I think that if Brad Scott had spoken dishonestly about Harvey's future then he would have been criticised .... etc. I think that there was no way that they would have avoided criticism this week, and in all honesty, I don't understand the opinion that they should have made a single player bigger than the team this week. I think that it's all been handled fine, in fact.
However, if they haven't done enough to celebrate the milestone, maybe it's because they already know that he'll playing on next year and possibly breaking the all time games record, and having two huge celebrations in two years for one player would obviously be way too much. So, I think that they might be saving their big celebration for next year. This is just what I think anyway. I might be mistaken.
