Don't know, but there's going to be an enormous stink over it. Conditions favoured Geelong enormously since North played three tall in the forward line as they planned on a closed roof game.
Shit reason. North blew a massive lead and the rain is not to blame for that. Geelong had to play in the wet, not just North.

Brad Scott abusing the ground manager was a joke too.

If Melbourne get the priority pick as some people in the media are suggesting that would be the biggest joke. It might not sound like much but the differance between pick 5 & 6 (for example) is huge. If we missed out on a Boyd/Billings/Dunstan because of Melbourne's shitness I will be royally pissed.

I'll be absolutely ropable if they get a priority pick. The AFL needs to step in and help them, but giving them a higher pick so they can piss more talent up the wall is disgraceful.

How will they do that? It's either a priority pick, cash handout or forced sacking of coaching staff and/or board members. Melbourne's problems stem from their on field performances.

The AFL need to oversee the appointment of new administration and coaching staff. The players don't care and haven't developed, therefore the problem is above them. They've instilled a losing culture and have very little upside - they need a complete cleanout of both list and administration, but I'm not sure they can be trusted to choose the right people after all the crap they've waded through the past decade or so. AFL needs to assist them imo.

After the AFL spending so much time and funds on the Melbourne tanking issue, then to come up with a non conclusion, leave them with the freedom of the 2012 draft, and at the same time to impose a fine on them for what they apparently "didn't do".
How in hell, and the height of all hypocrisy, could they now turn around and put extra money into their coffers [ ie. return the fine with interest], and dole them out priority picks at the expense of other struggling clubs, who did not set out to rort the system ?

I for one do not buy that Melbourne's problem is its coach. The problem goes far deeper than that, and is a systemic cultural problem.
Are the seeds planted when the club showed no loyalty to a bunch of senior players who gave them a decade or more of loyal service only to be unmercifully dumped, now bearing bitter fruit.

Him or Schwab. Wouldn't be surprised if Neeld resigns instead of being sacked.
Yeah, could be either. Given the kiss of death that Neeld got given this week ("he has the full support of the board"), I'm guessing it's him though.

Bingo.

This post needs to be quoted at the end of every year when the silly season starts with the annual "trade Cross/Boyd /etc" calls start coming in thick and fast.

Development of their younger players would have certainly been helped by retaining Joel MacDonald types - here's a reason GWS sought him out even after having spent a year in retirement.

Neeld gone. Has to be.
I dont think Melbourne can afford to sack their coach. Just like Port last year, they will find it very hard to find anyone of quality that would be willing to take on the job. The club is a basket case.
In my opinion their biggest mistake in the past few years was not appointing Sheedy as coach when they had the chance. While Sheedy is a twat of the highest order he is a very effective coach, and a very astute manager of people and players.

I'm not saying they should sack the coach, I just thought that would be "rabble logic"; the coach is often the first to go.

Agree on Sheedy. Melbourne should chase Rocket Eade with all of the bags of cash in the world. Almost think they should recruit Wallace in some regard (NOT as coach); his speeches to the players are phenomenal and could go a long way to pumping the players up and getting them to push themselves on field.

Thats ok mate, didnt think you were. TBH i think Gary Ayres would be the perfect coach for them at the moment, to rebuild that club.
However, until MFC get their house in order, the Melbourne coaching job will be seen as a career killer.

Nah they need a senior head in there, someone with experience, like Dan said Rodney Eade or Terry Wallace, someone that will actually fire them up!
