Non Collingwood NAB Cup Games - Round 1 Discussion

We are the only team to have won the back-to-back games so far. The cheats and the Crows have a chance to do the same today.

WCE and us both on 2 wins.

For those that are interested, WCE will win their next 2 games. They play Port in Mandurah and Shit.Kilda in Perth.

I expect us to win both our next 2 games v Melb & Crows @ AAMI.

The cheats have a soft draw too with Crows & Port today followed by Bulldogs & Brisbane.

It could be fun times in Adelaide today, the weather forecast is for 37 degrees and the chance of an afternoon thunderstorm.

Would love to see the Scum run into the ground in the heat, and lose both games, although they'd basically have to turn their backs on play to lose to Port.

J-Mac should be playing for Port today, ironically wearing number 35:thumbsu:

I don't know exactly what it is about Franklin (if he was a Pie player I'd love him) he is just one of those opposiiton players that I don't like.

Perhaps it's the turning to the crowd after a goal rather then his teammates who did all the work upfield. (see: 2007 EF v Crows) It's a regular occurrence. Hodge ribbed him about it one day, that he just brushed his teammates when he turned to the crowd.

The way he struts around, he appears to me that he would rather kick 5 goals and lose, then kick none and have his team win. If he's 55/60 metres out he'll have a shot at goal, even if there are players in a better position inside 50 to have the ball kicked too.

No doubting his talent. He's in the top 3 players in the game but once his talents start to dimish (as happens with all players. see: Aker) the media will be all over him, talking about his demise.

I hope you don't mind me intruding as I always like to read the other top 3 teams forum posts, you quite spot on with that assessment of Buddy. I rate him amongst the top 5 players in the game right now, number 1?
I'm not quite sure because like you said, he does get on the end of it a hell of a lot of the time and as Hodge, Mitchell, Sewell look for him more times during a quarter footy than probably any other player in the league.

He doesn't like tall defenders who can move and it's a reason why Geelong have been able to keep him in check time and time again. Mackie and Lonergan have the longest reach amongst the defenders at our club but they can also move (especially Lonergan).
I rate Nathan Brown as a seriously good defender as he has exceptional length coupled with his agility for a guy 6ft'5.
When he comes back, Franklin is not going to kick the 4 goals he kicked in the preliminary on a slightly jaded Magpie defense.

Travis Cloke produces what Franklin has does in recent years on a consistent basis...yet too a much less spectacular fashion. It's very easy to get caught up in the showtime highlight plays but for team value, Travis Cloke is right up there alongside him in my opinion.

I think the bolded says it all. I would love Buddy at the Pies. He is the most influential player in the AFL. A lot of superstars strutted around. Carey, Brereton,Phil Carman, Lockett in a thugish sort of way. It gets up oppossition supporters noses, but doesn't diminish their talent.

They strut because they talk the talk and walk the walk. Never been any suggestion from the Hawthorn camp that he is selfish. They want him taking shots at goal from wherever because they now he's capable of scoring.

Hawthorn are a big chance this year for a Premiership. Take Buddy out and they would not make top 4.

I think, from memory we have tried that without success.

Tarrant is our best Buddy match up by a fair way IMO.

PORT ADELAIDE, LOL.:D:p

At half time, Kreuzer got a 50 metre penalty as time ran out, about 110 metres out, so the Port players all walk towards the race, Kreuzer walks to 60 and puts through a nine pointer with only one port player still on the ground, it was hilarious.:p

Port lead by 3 points, but OMG what a dumb bunch of footballers.

Dwayne Russell's not happy, which means everyone watching is happy.
