Yeah. Who gives a damn? He's done it all to himself and we're supposed to feel interested or sorry?
Geez you two, going after a young bloke who is struggling with his mental health… not an ounce of empathy between you. Poor form.

Not at all. I've plenty of empathy where it's warranted: not the case here. The poor form relates to his character, unless he pulls himself out of the mire. As much as I hate it, I feel more sympathy for Beveridge.

Certainly not like drug addicts to lie and blame others for their actions. Always believe drug addicts is Jen’s advice.

I hope JUH gets the help he needs. I just hope he doesn't bail on his club. I'm all for taking time off but not into examples of mental health issues leading to players walking to a club of their choice while their former club gets unders. A player like that shouldn't go for anything less than 2 firsts because you know he'll dominate once he gets his house in order.
* unless us.

While everyone is criticizing Carlton, I actually think the fallback is an indictment
on North. The fact for what, 8 years(?) they’ve been so shit, that if they actually win a game against a team outside the bottom 4, there is a meltdown from opposition fans/calls for the coach to be sacked.

North should have improved to being outside bottom 3 but here we are, almost 10 years since they last played finals, and if they win it’s such an upset that it causes a meltdown.

All this ‘they’ve improved’ is bullshit. They’ve finished 17th, 18th, 18th, 17th, 17th and are currently 16th.

Both clubs are ordinary.

Carlton used to own North Melbourne, so why not just merge them to bring in Tasmania...

Sure… we were offering a heap for JHF (and you can see why, he’s going to be a gun). But given Rankine and Dawson were both trades I’m sure we would have found a way to get them one way or another. Different picks, future picks, different players traded out etc.

Even if we found a different way, there was still going to be an associated cost getting each of those players.

If we were able to use a future pick for Rankine it would then mean we wouldn't have Curtin.

We also would have needed to trade a player and or trade away numerous picks to get the collateral for Dawson.

Sure the capital would have been a lot.

Devils advocate is we paid what we did because we had those picks.

For those that remember, Dangerfield (that we traded for unders) clubs could actually trade future firsts for the first time and we should have got 2 firsts for Danger. Geelong told us they couldn’t give us their future first because they had already promised it for Lachie Henderson from Carlton, which is a trade that went through.

Would we have the balls to say ‘sorry Sydney and Gold Coast, we’ve already trade x picks to North, best we can do is x’? Probably not. But I don’t think it’s black and white as it’s made to be.

Likely no Rachele and Curtin, but the truth is we’ll never actually know.

If it was C Edwards and Curtin… then it begins an actual conversation.

They blew a couple of years and arguably went further backwards under the Noble led group. Then another under Clarko with the sham Hawks racism saga getting on the way. It’s definitely been a while, but not sure it’s about how quick you get back into finals. It’s got to be designed to put a multi-year flag contending group together.

And we finished 15th last year to their 17th. So far, we only look to be 1 year ahead.

You cant be that naive can you ??

Seriously
How am I naive? I just think it's poor form for adults to bag out young men who are struggling - regardless of the why's and wherefores. We are losing WAY too many young men in our society today, because people can be absolute arsehats. He's made mistakes. He's apparently tried to fix them. But not good enough for these perfect fellas in here. People suck.

His choices have been poor for a very long time, and now he feels bad about making them and he's pulled the oldest trick in the book.

That's not mental health, thats being stupid and feeling shit for letting people down who invested time into you to get you to the positions you are in.

Absolutely, I never watch any AFL media now.
You'd be better off for it. I swore it off years ago.

I got the shits with it after realising just how much of fits into a few categories:
  • Rage bait over nothing
  • Masturbatory circle jerks: Show A puts forward a dumb hypothetical, then for the next 4 days Shows B through Z all debate how ridiculous the hypothetical is that had no actual basis to start with.
  • Knee jerk reactions: Team wins, "They're a flag chance, this mob!". 6 days later they lose, "They're pretenders, they don't have what it takes."
  • Deliberate shit takes to serve the first 2 points above

These days I might consume a segment or two on Youtube but only if it has value. I actually watch Razor Ray's 360 segment each week when they upload it to Youtube because it's actually educational and informative. That one I'd recommend checking out purely to get an idea of what umpires are actually being told as opposed to what the commentators think the rules are.

Maybe... or maybe the kid has mental health issues that have lead to poor decisions. Either way, it costs nothing to be kind... but cruel words can and do have an impact on those that are already struggling.
