I will preface this with i did not watch this game but..

Are st kilda monumentally overrated?

Im also going to say...yes NAS is a star but 19 disposals for a premier mid is not to standard if you are saying he is the best player in the comp which some were saying.

Long season to go though but an inability to beat a midteir team doesnt sell St Kilda to me as the world beaters we were promised.
They are not rated by us here. Any overrating is generated by the media hyping them up. Even there, some have sensibly criticised their acquisition policy. They are going to regret their wasteful spending.

When playing the Pies at the G you have to take your chances early or when you have momentum because they will grind you down and put on a quick burst that will ruin you before closing up shop and defending a lead they know you can't run down.

How often have we gone into 1/4 time against the pies 2.6 to 4.1 and they kicked 3 in the final 5 minutes of the quarter but we dominated for the first 20 minutes.

Geelong, Hawthorn and Pies were already ahead of us, GC and GWS were other finalists who improved further.
Ah Chee is a better recruit than who Geelong and Collingwood brought in. Both have a much more experience list than ours so arguably they've gone backwards as their experience list have aged another year within their premiership window. The Hawks isn't ahead of us, both teams weakness is in the midfield but ours is on an uptrend compared to theirs. Each have 2 elite midfielders (although Day is very injury prone so there's question mark whether he can get back to his best) but I'm not sure who their Soligo, Rachele and Curtin are. Backs is equal but our forwards is far better. GWS did loss Greene for an entire season so probably ended up staying the same with recruitment of Oliver provided he can keep on track. GCS definitely have gone pass us, Geelong, Hawks, Collingwood and Fremantle though, 2nd favourite for the premiership after Brisbane and equal with Sydney in terms of talent (I don't rate Cox's coaching compared to Fagan and Hardwick).

Yes he’s getting paid $2m for the next 2 years but I think NAS made a huge mistake not signing a 10 year deal last year, to whoever he chose. He will never be worth more than he was last year with a perfect storm of demand and rise to form.

If he has a down year and Crows get Bailey/Port keep Butters (unlikely but), he could get a significantly lower offer.

The hype was crazy last year, will it still be the same in 2 years? Time will tell.

NAS spent a lot of time forward. And Perryman did a very good job of negating his influence.

We need a good start to be any chance of winning and cannot be nervous in front of goal. But I feel more confident as underdogs at the MCG than at Adelaide Oval.

Another 50/50 game for sure.

Wow, that's weird.

I have watched each game, which is unusual for me, but because only part round & it's been a long preseason.

& yes, I call myself a true Crows supporter.

Also, need to forget about Piastri disaster.

To be fair to young Daniel, he would only have been posting that to have a crack at me. Doubt it’s something he’d apply across the board.

Are you sure? Some of the errors seemed very skill based. Some rubbish by foot, and unreliable hands
Possibly, but I’ll back them to be the bolter for the season. There’s normally one team from the previous seasons bottom 8 who suddenly make the 8. That was us last season. It’s too early to know of course

Ah Chee better than Curnow?
No & Curnow fixes Swans forward issues.

We didn’t really address our weakest area of the ground... unless Rachele/Curtin play more inside midfield & Ah Chee covers them.

Brisbane and Gold Coast did.

Cal ah Chee is better than anyone brought in by Freo, Hawthorn, Collingwood, Bulldogs, Sydney, Geelong and arguably the Giants.
Connor Budarick was one of the Bulldogs very best in their win over last year's Premiers.

Judd McVee was a decent get for Freo too.

Charlie Curnow I think trumps Cal Ah Chee by a tad?

Worpel was much more a need for Geelong than Ah Chee was for us with Dangerfield on the downhill slide

Orrr Yeah??

Since when did Curnow kick 4 goals in a grand final no less ??😜

Yeah funny that Swans gave up 2 1st round picks for Curnow and we assessed Ah Chee as worth one 2nd rounder.

Love him or hate him he's always spoke his mind regardless of what people think of him. Even after this he's still capable of taking the piss out of himself.

Sam Newman spends 10 days in hospital after suffering two ministrokes

Sam Newman has undergone emergency surgery after suffering two ministrokes, the medical scare triggered when his partner noticed he was slurring his words.

Sam Newman is recovering from a major health scare after suffering two ministrokes.
The former Footy Show star and popular podcaster underwent emergency surgery to widen the main artery in his neck that supplies blood to the brain.

The 80-year-old spent 10 days at the Alfred Hospital and was released on Sunday.

“I feel great, it’s been an experience, mainly all good,” he said on his YouTube channel on Sunday.

“Intricate surgery going into the vein in my neck. Needed to repair a vein which has got a bit clogged up that goes into my brain.”
Newman shared that the warning signs were stuttered speech and losing strength temporarily in both of his arms.

He said if it wasn’t for the quick thinking of his partner Sue Stanley, who called an ambulance, he might not have survived.

“If this had happened to me up while I was on a boat on the Whitsundays a couple of years ago or going around Australia in a central caravan, if this had happened then, it might have been a different story,’’ Newman said.

“But I suffered a medical episode and if Sue hadn’t summoned the help she did I mightn’t be here.”
He explained while in hospital — and praising the public health system — he suffered a transient ischemic attack which is a temporary blockage of blood flow to the brain that causes stroke-like symptoms.

“I’ve had an MRI, an ultrasound and had a bevy of tests and I’ve just finally had the operation to widen the artery which goes into my brain,’’ Newman said.

“It took them a long time to find my brain but eventually they located it.

“I haven’t had a stroke, well I have had a stroke, I’ve had two little strokes.

“I wanted to say I’ve had it done and I have a glowing health report.

Yes... but the addition of Ah Chee bolsters an area which was already a strength - our forward line. His recruitment does nothing to address the glaring weakness which is our midfield.

Ah Chee is a good player, but he's only going to improve our team marginally. Oliver & Petracca are absolute difference makers, and GC & GWS are significantly stronger for their addition.

I'd also argue that Charlie Curnow is a fair bit better than Ah Chee, and will improve Sydney a whole lot more than Ah Chee will at the Crows.

GWS have lost Tom Green for the year.

Maybe they are better with Oliver in and Green out 🤷‍♂️
