Gotta wonder if huge Melbourne fans Garry Lyon and Tom Morris knew about this and both chose to keep their mouths shut.

It's a bigger issue than just 'Goodwin was a bit rude and went out with the boys'.

A club doctor raised a complaint and was immediately sacked.
It was taken to the board - and the person who brought it was replaced.
Club sued by doctor and has to give 6 figure payout.

Absolutely. But winning is the cure for everything.

What Goodwin does with the players outside the club isn't anyone's business. It may "look" bad, but it's their personal time and they should be allowed to do what they want.

Where it does get tricky is with the gambling though. I would be worried about Goodwin to hear he's gambling given his previous issues there, especially since he was betting on games and that can potentially bring all sorts of trouble into the club.

This journo is hated by the AFL establishment for his book ‘Boys Club’ which i highly recommend (and strangely ignored by establishment AFL journos). The timing isn’t to cover for McClure.

Goodwin's behaviour has always been a bit questionable.

Back in the mid 2000s I was told a rumour that came directly from someone within the SA footy media that Goodwin had a younger girlfriend in Melbourne who he regularly caught up with when the Crows played over there.

I don't know too much more than that other apparently a lot of the players and officials knew and turned a blind eye to it.

Any father & son/daughter that we can add?

He’s a jerk, and was when he played. Remember that time when he threatened a journalist after a mad Monday drinking session? Shoved him against a wall, arm across his neck, threatening all manner of harm

Problem is ours are all admin staff where nothing happens to them, so when a footy person stuffs up they get the book thrown at them to make up for it.

Reports suggest that Goodwin put pressure on the club doctor to clear Brayshaw from concussion protocols.

Will be interesting to see if it is pursued further. Did they let him train/play despite against the doctors recommendations? If they did, Melbourne should be smashed with sanctions.

Basically said there is nothing wrong with Goodwin's behaviour, that he thinks Gil is wrong and that Goodwin being out drinking and gambling with players is good for them all.

Not saying the same thing is true about Goodwin, but there’s definitely some skeletons lurking in that closet, and I reckon the structure of being involved in professional sport keeps them from becoming full-blown issues.

They brought in a fair bit of decent talent to surround him with, Yze, Williams, Richardson, Burgess.

He has zero charisma…none, not even a little bit.

That doesn’t mean you can’t or won’t be successful, but it’s a big disadvantage during shit-hitting-the-fan times.
