An actual cash profit, or an accounting 'paper' profit?

Yeh, I actually want to see the financials and see the numbers. In the 2020 report, they still inc the $4m restricted cash as an asset (which was from Feds) but required certain conditions to be met.

Seen this all before.

All AFL clubs financials on this link (not updated for 2021 yet)

Profit from operating activities 5.7M, after depreciation 4.8M. So it seems legit, unless there's some big grant money included or something.

We’ll see. Last year the same profit line they called “loss from continuing operations”

This year it’s “profit from operating activities”

Tells me there’s some one offs and funny business going on.

The 25% increase in revenue is interesting. It might be a 25% increase on severely depleted revenue the year before, so actually not much different to 2 years ago. Or it might be an increase on the back of a substantial grant that is being included as revenue. I can't see there being a legitimate 25% increase in revenue based on guernsey sales.

Correct:

  • 2019 = $58.3M
  • 2020 = $39.7M (drop by $18.6M or 31.9%)
  • 2021 = $49.3M (up by $9.6M or 24.2%)

Underrated post

Gold coast have a lucrative 2 year deal on the table for Ben King. 5 Victorian clubs are also circling him, including Stkilda Collingwood and Essendon.

2 years? Gone.
Vic clubs will be offering 5 plus

Its not so much that it is 2 years, but the fact that there is the remote possibility of issues with his career, post ACL.

He would be mad to take that risk when he will get much much better offers (multi year, multi-million dollars) from Victoria especially in a Covid environment.

If Ben King wasnt gone before the ACL, he is almost a certainty to leave now. Suns will obviously be offering a bigger contracts to Luko and Rankine as the likely fallout of King leaving.

Dont rule out musical chairs, as I cant recall if McDonald is signed beyond this year and may return to Perth. Sydney would also have the dollars to make a bid for King.

Just saw this on The Advertiser website

It's hilarious to see his picture associated with something sponsored by KFC.

Unless you get points for each piece of KFC they eat, I wouldn't be having him anywhere near any of my teams.

Have they crushed their costs massively goet such a big margin then compared to 2019?
So they can trim the fat & live within their means... if they really have to.

Will be interesting to see how the Port Power women's team will go playing home games at Alberton Oval.

One of the things Adelaide have had with the women's team is people who are new to footy coming on board. This has helped our club.

With a central, city fringe venue like The Parade, that has helped. Alberton is a long way away for a lot of people.

Wow. He looks a lot like Kane. Bit of an amazing coincidence.
I know it’s fun and games but Kane looks very much like graham

Especially when you’ve got no wheels to get home again.

And they’ll be getting flogged. Nice test for the true believers*

And what's the point of a 2 year! You would imagine that he won't be at full strength until 2024.

Did the ACL in preseason, so he should be firing in 2023.

It is surprising they're not going for the years until Ben is free agent, but that alone probably indicates Gold Coast see Ben King leaving as a when, not a if.
