How is it a loss for fans of the respective clubs?
Isn’t it an extra game added to the season, a game that would not have happened if not for Reacha Round.

It is an extra game however a number of teams are playing a side that they only meet once for the year.

And Geelong into overdrive now, look what happens when you have a dangerous forward line. Only need to break even in the middle and you will win the game. It is the reason we loaded up on talent in our forward line.

Just checked, a lot over 50k

81k

Yep. Makes a real mockery of that idiot Stevens claim that this would be the biggest H&A game between them (Coll v St Kilda) in near 60 years. It is only Round 5. And the game (even if it was being played in Melbourne) would still be a late Sunday, so that would shave a bit off the potential crowd.

Fox footy.. the AFL mouthpiece and partner in promoting and distributing the game to the world..

Is using footage of the pickett on smith bump as part of the advertising package to promote Gather Round..

Yeah.. the AFL gives a real fxxk about head knocks..

I get the idea of the press saying "all teams are in the same state, that match should be a Saturday night game, move it to that timeslot"

But the stupidity of "lets have one game out of the nine moved because we can't bear a weekend without a game of live footy" is immense

Pennant Hills Footy Club has been a handy breeding place for AFL players...Lenny Hayes, the McVeigh brothers, the Jack Brothers, Braeden Campbell come to mind.
And thanks to that, Some clubs placed their NSW Scholarship players there for their final 2 years of development (Scott Reed from Collingwood and Ranga Ediriwickrama from Geelong come to mind)

Though, I think it was more to do with location. Westbrook juniors (including Edirwickrama of Geelong) went to Penno, Baulkham Hills juniors (including Stubbs of Hawthorn) went to East Coast, and Forest juniors (including Long of Fremantle, Pryor of North Melbourne, Brain of Brisbane) went to North Shore. I think Reed of Collingwood going to Penno was directed by Collingwood. Though, for him it didn't matter. He was commuting from Newcastle for training/games.

That was a fun period to play in NSW. Our state team knocked off Vic Country in 2008
