Disappointing we couldn't prise Will Day away from this rabble
Junior coaching is pretty piss poor tbh.1 player taken from North of the Barassi line last national draft, and that was the father/son of a Tasmanian, so effectively zero.
Swans have been in Sydney for 40 years, Brisbane Bears/Lions have been in Qld for 35 years. The impact they have had on breeding players in those states over those decades is minimal.
Lenny Hayes family came from Melbourne, his father and grandfather played for Geelong
The McVeighs family also came from Melbourne to the NSW Central coast, their father Tony played with Williamstown in the VFA. Which is my point that they weren't grown by the AFL through the presence of the swans/giants, they are simply the product of a transplanted Aussie Rules family that was always going to choose that code over Rugby.
The Jack's definitely count as " converts" as their father played Rugby League.
I don't know much about Braeden Campbell's background other than he went to a private school (Knox Grammar) which seems to be one of the few rare genuine paths to playing Aussie rules for Sydney natives, along with coming from some of those more exclusive eastern suburbs probably at least partly due to a significant number of ex-melburnians in those areas.
Yano - When the fixture was released I was pissed, no good games.
Have a read of this bullshit take
What this reads: All blockbuster games should be in Melbourne. Barrett even wants the Showdown there ffs.
It will always be the VFL to these pricks.
I'm pretty sure I saw something that in the agreement to get it here in the first place, was written that 2 of the first 3 will be here.i heard last week that the AFL are closing to signing a deal for the Gather round to be here next year aswell
How much would the latter game get anyway? Like Saints are hardly a big drawcard?
That defending by Hawks, oh my gosh.
They were worse than us. They'll be near the bottom for yearsHawks are bad, really, really bad. Wow.
$$$So what is the afl hoping to gain from gather round?
It really sounds like a stupid idea ...
Yano - When the fixture was released I was pissed, no good games.
But things have changed.
But what I don't like is how some games are ONLY happening at Gather Round.
Should be double up games only.

That ump showed more resilience than Hawthorn lol.Geez, Jezza smashed into that boundary Ump![]()

Yup, both goal celebrations, but expect “nuthin to see here”So that was worse than Soligo, was it not.
It was a goal celebration.

Is there a cooling off period? And Will Day extends his contract for 4 years - wow!
Wasn’t the boundary ump inside the field of play? His fault GTFOSo that was worse than Soligo, was it not.
It was a goal celebration.
They are probably paying him a million a year and frontloading most of it into next season!..Whatever money we could have offered him, Hawks could offer him a boat load more.
